Beginners Guide to Investing In Stock Market

Beginners Guide to Investing In Stock Market | All in one Financial Solutions | Scoop.it

One question which often comes to everyone's mind is how to invest in the stock market. Stock market is an easy way to double your money if you know the right ways .This tempting thought makes a lot of people invest money in the stock market.

Some of the things which a novice should keep in mind before investing in a Stock Market are:

First choose the type of the investment you want to do. The different types include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, or real estate.

Being a beginner, it is best to choose bonds for investing as these are way safer than the other types of investments. When you buy bonds from the government or a corporation, they lend out their shares promising interest on the first investment. This means that the bonds are in a debt form which the borrower must repay. Though they yield very less, a beginner should always prefer to invest in bonds as there are no chances of losing money.Stocks hold greater risk. So if you want to invest your money in stocks, as a starter you should always learn a great deal about them. When you buy stocks or bonds you will become part owner of the company. This allows you to attend meetings of shareholders.

Mutual funds are also a good option for investing as it is a combination of stocks and bonds. These are purchased by a pool of investors hiring a professional manager, who in turn selects certain securities for the group. It is a great way of learning the basics of stocks and ensures lesser risk of loss.

Investments can also be done in trusts and guaranteed equity bonds (GEB). Trusts are similar to funds but their structure is a bit more complex. GEBs are generally invested in a number of stocks. They are run for a certain period and even promise to return the invested amount along with the increased amount.

Many beginners do the mistake of choosing a company by watching their past records. A company which had a good past record in stock market will not necessarily flourish in the present too. The stock market is volatile; fluctuations in the stock values are also bound to happen.

It is always advised that if you have a lot of money to invest don't invest in one place. You may end up losing a lot if you do. So, it is always better to invest in several companies so that even if you lose at one place you have the chance to regain it from the other investments. Place the least amount in the high risk funds. You can also consult an expert to help decide on investing the money correctly.

A golden rule to remember while investing in the stock market is to leave the investment for a medium term alone which is at least three years extending to five or more.

Stock market takes time to develop. You should not expect to a huge gain right at the beginning. It is not the amount you are investing but the timing which matters.

Jennifer Winget's insight:

Stock markets can make or break the careers of many investors. It is not luck which matters in this case, but some serious understanding of statistics. Apart from that, experience and timing are very important. If you are new to the field there are a few things you need to keep in mind.
