Obi Wan Kenobi arrested for hit and run. The force was not with him that night. | All Geeks | Scoop.it

A man named Obi Wan Kenobi was arrested in California on five counts of hit and run after he used his reckless driving to trigger a five car pile up.

After investigating the March 19 accident, the Roseville Police Department busted Kenobi Saturday on a felony hit-and-run charge and booked him into the Placer County jail, where the adjacent mug shot was snapped. At the time of his arrest, Kenobi was wanted on an outstanding warrant charging him with misdemeanor petty theft.

Kenobi was released from custody yesterday and placed “on electronic monitoring,” according to a spokesperson for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Formerly known as Benjamin Cale Feit, Kenobi changed his name in 1999 in response to a radio stunt tied to the release of “Stars Wars: Episode I.” A California station offered $1000 to the first listener to legally change their name to that of the fictional Jedi master.

Jedi knights top 15,000 in Czech census

MORE than 15,000 Czechs follow the faith of the Star Wars movies' Jedi knights, they have told the official census, while half of the country's 10.5 million people declined to list any religion.

"Many people adhered to the moral values of Jedi knights from the Star Wars saga," the Czech Statistical Office said, noting that the invented faith also had a strong following in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Britain.

It said 15,070 Czechs registered as Jedi knights in the census held in March, against 1,083,899 Roman Catholics and 707,649 people who said they believed in God but did not belong to any church.

"Fifteen thousand adherents, which is the size of a small town, is not a negligible social phenomenon," Stanislav Drapal, deputy head of the statistical office, said.

In Prague, statisticians registered 3977 Jedi knights, or 0.31 per cent of the capital's population....

The tiny South Pacific nation of Niue will soon be accepting Star Wars coins as legal tender. But don't count on anyone using them to buy a snack on the island (population: 1,311), which is linked to nearby New Zealand and recognizes Queen Elizabeth II as its sovereign.

Each coin will be minted with a fully colored image of Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, C-3PO or other famous face from the Star Wars universe on one side, with a mug of Queen Elizabeth on the other, according to the New Zealand Mint...

Evolution Takes A Leap: The Boy Who Will Begin A New World Order

Evolution Takes A Leap: The Boy Who Will Begin A New World Order | All Geeks | Scoop.it

The time for reading comics is done. It’s time to live the marvel of mutated human beings, to realize that superpowers are real. And they’re here.

This report on YouTube reports that a child in China has blue cat-like eyes, reflecting light back at us in the night. He’s able to do written tests in the dark and is terribly uncomfortable in the bright sunshine.

Who knew, the elves of legend come from Chinese stock!

Apparently he was even able to catch crickets in the dark. Bet he can catch bad guys too. I wonder what his superhero name is going to be?

So the evolution begins. Whose side will you be on, who will you follow? Xavier or Magneto?

Holy Lego, The Brick Bible: A New Spin on the Old Testament

Holy Lego, The Brick Bible: A New Spin on the Old Testament | All Geeks | Scoop.it

Brendan Powell Smith has spent a lot of time with Lego bricks. He’s spent about a decade building scenes from the Bible for his website, The Brick Testament, and he shows no sign of slowing down. His latest endeavor is a large softcover print edition called The Brick Bible: A New Spin on the Old Testament. The title is slightly misleading, as it only contains stories from 13 of the 66 39 books of the Old Testament, but that’s still enough to fill 270 pages of photos of Lego re-enactments of famous (and not-so-famous) moments in Biblical history....
