A Comprehensive Look at LinkedIn's Seven Million Canadian Users - Techvibes.com

A Comprehensive Look at LinkedIn's Seven Million Canadian Users - Techvibes.com | All About LinkedIn | Scoop.it

LinkedIn now boasts more than 200 million users.

We know that seven million of those are Canadian. But LinkedIn doesn't really break down stats beyond that. 20% of Canadians use the professionally oriented social networking site, but what do we really know about these members? Not a whole lot.

Edmonton's FixedSocial decided to change that. The digital marketing consultancy broke down a bunch of data on Canadian users to provide us with one of a comprehensive look at LinkedIn members in Canada, building a custom infographic exclusively for Techvibes.

Why Top Sales Reps Will Be Unemployed In 2 Years

Why Top Sales Reps Will Be Unemployed In 2 Years | All About LinkedIn | Scoop.it

Here's the problem:

The buying environment has dramatically changed.  Most sales forces, however, have failed to adapt – especially at the Rep level.  It may be 2 years, it may be 5 before they are unemployed. It will be because of obsolescence – a failure to evolve with the market. We always see some Reps get left behind because they didn’t evolve. It didn’t matter how much training or communication they received – they were simply “old dogs that couldn’t learn new tricks.”

Anita Windisman's comment, May 2, 11:08 AM
Hugh, Yes it's a bold statement...I agree with the essence of the article. Sales has always been about "relationships" - meaning that people like to do business with those that they know, like and trust. The difference is that now the tools have changed, so there's no excuse for going in "cold" into any situation - either information-wise or relationship-wise.
Chris Lentzy's curator insight, May 4, 7:09 AM

I do believe this

Chris Lentzy's curator insight, May 4, 7:16 AM

I do believe this.  The reality is that "good" salesman have become too expensive to employ and there are alternatives available. While it wont happen right across the board, there will be a shift in this direction.

Your Biggest LinkedIn Mistake Can Be Easily Fixed

Your Biggest LinkedIn Mistake Can Be Easily Fixed | All About LinkedIn | Scoop.it

The number one mistake you are making with LinkedIn is the generic use of LinkedIn invitations – invitations and responses to invitations. If you are not leveraging this feature, then you are leaving ‘relationship currency’ on the table. Using LinkedIn invitations is the best way to start, revive or expand your business connections to help you build your social brand.

Anita Windisman's insight:

Without a doubt, a "generic" invitation request is one of the biggest pet peeves I hear from our clients....

Dawn Matheson's curator insight, April 18, 2:52 PM

LinkedIn is a powerful peer-to-peer tool. It's more than just a way of "finding jobs." There are very active communities where you can exchange ideas.

Be Careful What You 'Mention' on LinkedIn

Be Careful What You 'Mention' on LinkedIn | All About LinkedIn | Scoop.it

Last week, LinkedIn introduced the mention feature, allowing the social media giant to become a bit more social. The feature, pretty much identical to Facebook's and Twitter's mention, is a great way for users to engage with other users. But for the professionals looking to start taking advantage of this feature, I would highly recommend exercising caution.
