48 Variables That Make the Biggest Difference in Your Life - Self Stairway

48 Variables That Make the Biggest Difference in Your Life - Self Stairway | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
48 practical actions you can experiment with to improve yourself. From building confidence to learning how to socialize.
Ariana Amorim's insight:

From this post:

Conversion Rate Optimization, or CRO, is the practice of finding ways to increase the effectiveness of a specific goal. It is usually applied in marketing.

What does CRO have to do with self-improvement?

Just like CRO, no advice or change in a variable is universal. Something that may work for one person may not help you. There are an infinite amount of complexities that affect how things unfold for you.

Second, one small change may end up being the defining factor, but you’ll never know until you implement and track the results, so always be testing.

Third, life is rarely as simple as changing just one small thing. It is possible, but you shouldn’t count on one golden formula. It may end up being a large combination of different things.

There are 48 different things you can try...

12 Variables for Building Confidence

12 Variables for Building Happiness

12 Variables for Improving Your Socializing Skills and Making Friends

12 Variables for Improving Your Physical Appearance

How to get ahead: 5 questions for Joel Garfinkle | Daniel H. Pink | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Not everyone craves the proverbial key to the executive washroom, but nearly everyone wants to have influence in their workplace, have others think well of them, and attain success in a way that’s meaningful to their lives. Joel Garfinkle has coached countless executives in how to reach their goals, and now he’s written a book called Getting Ahead (which you can buy at Amazon,Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, or 800CEORead) so that anyone can take his proven methods and use them to boost their own career.

Because his book addresses such core desires, I’ve asked Joel to answer a few questions about the book and his work as an executive coach. Here are his answers...

A Year of Living Without : zenhabits

For the next 12 months, I’ll be conducting a personal experiment that I’m calling A Year of Living Without.

It’s my way of finding out what’s truly necessary, of simplifying my life, of making room for other things.

I’m testing the boundaries of my needs. It’s good to test your personal boundaries now and then (or, if you’re me, all the time).

So what’s the Year of Living Without?

Each month, I’ll go the whole month without one thing I do every day. Something that I tend to not want to give up, for various reasons.

I’ll give up something for a month, then evaluate whether it was something I enjoyed giving up, whether it’s worth leaving it out of my life, or if I want to put it back in after the month’s over. The next month, I’ll try giving up something else (see the list below)

Ariana Amorim's insight:

Interesting challenge to do.

Self-criticism is so common that it is often taken for granted. It is the voice that urges you to stay up late to get work done, and then scolds you for not getting enough sleep when you feel tired the next morning.

60 Inconvenient Personal Development Truths

60 Inconvenient Personal Development Truths | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

I know you want to be the best you can be. We all do. But sometimes we look for success in the wrong places or we try to achieve it in the wrong ways.

Here are 60 inconvenient truths about personal development to help you stay on track.

The acquisition of knowledge doesn’t mean you’re growing. Growing happens when what you know changes how you live. You can’t have good ideas unless you’re willing to generate a lot of bad ones.A good idea without action is nothing at all. It’s not so much about finding opportunities as it is about creating them.10% of our lives is decided by uncontrollable circumstances. 90% is decided by how we react to those circumstances. What we don’t start today won’t be finished by tomorrow. If you’re waiting for the perfect conditions, ideas or plans to get started, you’ll never achieve anything.

5 Ways to Avoid the Biggest Regrets of Dying

5 Ways to Avoid the Biggest Regrets of Dying | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

by Celestine Chua

Death comes to all of us at some point.  Have you thought about how you would feel when the time comes for you to die?  Have you considered if you would have any regrets about how you led your life?

A palliative nurse who counseled dying patients in the final weeks of their lives took the liberty to record the most common regrets among them.

I believe in learning from the experiences of others.  Having the insights of people who have lived to the end of their lives is strikingly helpful in living our best lives.  Rather than reiterate the details of their regrets, I’m going to share them briefly and provide suggestions on how we can ensure that these regrets don’t become our regrets on our deathbeds someday.  While we can’t change our past, we can change the present and the future.  How our lives pan out from here is dependent on what we do starting today.

So here are 16 things I wish they had taught me in school (or I just would like to have known about earlier).
