Turning Your Dream Into A Strategic Plan

Turning Your Dream Into A Strategic Plan | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Strategic planning has gotten a bad rap with some business owners. You value flexibility and freedom so much you are concerned that a strategic plan will constrain you, clip your wings, strip away your entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to act. The notion of committing to a plan smacks of a bureaucracy you want to avoid.

But, the truth is strategic planning sets you free.

Have Students Create Their End-of-Year Legacy Now

Have Students Create Their End-of-Year Legacy Now | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Inviting students to write their end-of-year legacy at the start of the school year is one of the most powerful and efficient social-emotional and character development (SECD) interventions you can do for students, grades 5-12. First, you get to teach them about the concept of "legacy," and "reputation." You get to introduce them to the idea of being a person of character and deciding what kind of character they would like to have. Second, you start a conversation about character and accomplishment in the classroom, as kids can share their legacy statements and then you can raise the question, how can you support each other in accomplishing these important goals?

Ariana Amorim's insight:

These tips are suitable  for coaching children and/or for academic coaching.

Why making my tasks emotional increased my productivity

Why making my tasks emotional increased my productivity | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Introducing The To-Do List Organized By Emotion

Leverage your emotions to make dull tasks more fulfilling.

"I am optimistic about the approach. Our belief that we’re not easily influenced has been fabulously debunked by the extraordinary studies showing how, when prompted with words that suggest states of being, we act accordingly. Show people words related to old age and they walk more slowly etc.

So maybe, simply seeing a task list littered with the promise of good feelings can start to shift the deep, unhelpful emotions associated with the very idea of “tasks”.

Critically, in unearthing a task’s emotion, I’ve learned I have first to find the associated “Why” of the task. Emotions need a why. And “Why to do” to is always a better place to begin your day than “What to do”.

Ariana Amorim's insight:

Entrepreneur and author Robyn Scott wanted to create a habit of making one introduction within her network a day. In order to get herself excited enough to do it, she created a category on her to-do list titled, “Highly helpful.” Noticing the efficiency of this method, she now sorts her tasks using these categories:

Triumphant: Client pitches, investment presentations, hiring plans. Mission critical stuff.

Supremely satisfying: Inbox zero (aided by Tony Hsieh’s lovely “Yesterbox” technique), making a tricky phone call, research.

Massive relief: Tax return, sorting out insurance, booking flights.

Highly helpful: Intros, advice, intros, intros.

Basic decency: Thank you notes, keeping promises. I’ve found this list surprisingly revealing. It shows the conflict between two things I value greatly: generosity and integrity. I tend to promise too much. Seeing my impossibly long list in “basic decency” helps me avoid over-promising and jeopardising integrity.

Delight: I’d been meaning for ages to get a print of Raphael’s School of Athens for my office, calling a friend out of the blue.

Fit for Battle: A daily run, 10 minute morning meditation.

How to Stay Focused on Your Goals

How to Stay Focused on Your Goals | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Focus is what keeps us on track when we are trying to reach our goals. If you think of an archer as s/he aims at a target, it is essential that the archer has focus in order to hit the bulls eye. Likewise, when a person wants to create something in their life, they must main focus in order to achieve the goal.

So what can we do to ensure we maintain the focus we need to achieve our goals? Here are some tips that will help us stay focused.

Objetivos carismáticos – outubro 2013 | PNL- Portugal

Objetivos carismáticos – outubro 2013 | PNL- Portugal | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

What Is Holding You Back? - Leaving Work Behind

What Is Holding You Back? - Leaving Work Behind | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
If you understand what motivates you then you can figure out how to achieve anything.

We all give up.

Look back on your life — how many times have you given up on something? More times than you can count, I’m sure. I personally could start rattling off any number of things: from musical instruments, to sports, to intellectual endeavours.

Generally speaking we give up because of a lack of motivation and/or willpower. But how often do you actually look closely at those factors and seek to understand the underlying issues that prevent you from achieving something you set out to do? To my mind, you have the best chance of achieving your goals when you have a full understanding of (a) what drives you and (b) what holds you back.

And that is exactly what I want to write about (and help you with) today.
