Why Coaching Works

Why Coaching Works | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
In 2009, I was fortunate enough to have a book published - The Coaching Toolkit (my mum was very proud, but I was quite embarassed with the cover, which is a bit of a shocker!)  At the time I had been doing a great deal of work with my co-author, Mike Harbour, to set up coaching…

SOLVED Solution Finding Method

www.create-learning.com Your solution won't work for me. Solution finding method.
Ariana Amorim's insight:
The value in this method is that by focusing on what you want the solution to be as opposed to an emphasis on the problem, your energy and focus can be put into developing steps towards the solution. The problem is known and acknowledged, and the solution is found in examining what you know, what resources you have. See here: http://bit.ly/29cvq1N

SPIRO - A New (To You) Goal-Setting Model - The Launchpad - The Coaching Tools Company Blog

SPIRO - A New (To You) Goal-Setting Model - The Launchpad - The Coaching Tools Company Blog | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

The SPIRO model was created by J.E. Jones and published in a handbook for Group Facilitators in 1972, but it's hard to find out much about it. While most of you will have heard of SMART goals - Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Realistic and Time-Bound (see our Smart Goal-Setting Tool here), I had never heard of SPIRO until recently. This is perhaps because the SMART acronym superseded it (Wikipedia states that the first known reference to SMART is in 1981). However I still found SPIRO interesting.

PERMA Model - Career Development from MindTools.com

PERMA Model - Career Development from MindTools.com | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
Discover the five essential elements of well-being, so that you can flourish in your life and in your career.

We all want to be happy.

When we're happy, we're productive, we're good at building meaningful relationships with those around us, and... we feel great!

However, happiness is a notoriously difficult thing to "pin down;" and by focusing on it too intensely, we can end up feeling unfulfilled.

In this article we'll look at the PERMA Model. This helps us think about what we need to do to flourish - and be really happy as a result!

The PERMA Model was developed by respected positive psychologist, Martin Seligman, and was widely published in his influential 2011 book, "Flourish."

"PERMA" stands for the five essential elements that should be in place for us to experience lasting well-being. These are:

1. Positive Emotion (P)

2. Engagement (E)

3. Posite Relationships (R)

4. Meaning (M)

5. Accomplishment/Achievement (A)

FOG - How To Use Emotional Intelligence: Free Poster - Six Seconds

FOG - How To Use Emotional Intelligence: Free Poster - Six Seconds | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

At Six Seconds, we’ve developed a 3-step process to put emotional intelligence into action. Recently, I wrote about stepping through fear, and described the steps as FOG. Want to make an emotionally intelligent choice?

FOG:
F: Feelings. What’s going on inside?
O: Options. How could I respond?
G: Goals. Why might I move forward?

The same steps apply when solving a problem between people…

How many times have you acted on an assumption that turned out to be wrong? It happens all the time.

The Ladder of Inference, originally developed by Harvard Business School professorChris Argyris, helps us understand our communication barriers and come to common understanding based on shared data and interpretation. It is a wonderful tool if you’re teaching communication and soft skills workshops, but it’s also a great tool to use as a teacher or trainer, to better understand the thinking of your students or colleagues.

Team Coaching Success: Improving Observable and Measurable Impact

Team Coaching Success: Improving Observable and Measurable Impact | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
Team Coaching is fundamentally an individual and collective process of learning and change, and as such, team coaches should have a clearly articulated “theory of change” that underlies their Team Coaching approach.
Ariana Amorim's insight:
"One of the key set of capabilities of a team coach is to diagnose the collective team culture and dynamics and systemic patterns while feeding back in ways that create new insights and mindset shift in the team. The AQAL map is just one tool that helps you enhance your systemic capabilities and can be used to diagnose, contract (setting the foundation) and facilitate learning and results with your client team."

A Model for Organization ‹ http://coachfederation.org/blog | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

What makes a strong coach? The list is long, and the ability to help a client remain focused on her movement forward is high on the list. For coaches—particularly those who partner with a high volume of clients (e.g., Life Coaches partnering with students through a university-based coaching program; internal coaches whose job descriptions dedicate a large proportion of their time to coaching activities)—staying organized is key to achieving this goal.

Coaching Tools 101 - The GROW Model as the ULTIMATE Coaching Tool, Questions and Why it Always Works!

Coaching Tools 101 - The GROW Model as the ULTIMATE Coaching Tool, Questions and Why it Always Works! | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

There are many, many different coaching models out there but I still haven’t found anything that beats the GROW model for simplicity, effectiveness and results. If you embrace the GROW model – your clients will love you and you’ll never lose track in a coaching session again.

So, you probably use the GROW model (or T-GROW) without even realizing it:

T – Topic (Session Topic)G – Goal (Session Goal)R – Reality (Where they are and what’s going on for them)O – Options (Ideas and brainstorming – what they COULD do to move forwards)W – Will Do (Their actions – what they WILL do to move forwards)

In reality it’s probably more like ROTGOW or TROWG or TRORGWOW but these 5 key elements ALWAYS work and here’s why

Cómo conseguir cambiar en cinco etapas | Coaching y Psicología en Acción

Cómo conseguir cambiar en cinco etapas | Coaching y Psicología en Acción | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Ariana Amorim's insight:

In the Transtheoretical Model, change is a "process involving progress through a series of stages":

Precontemplation (Not Ready)-"People are not intending to take action in the foreseeable future, and can be unaware that their behaviour is problematic"
Contemplation (Getting Ready)-"People are beginning to recognize that their behaviour is problematic, and start to look at the pros and cons of their continued actions"
Preparation (Ready)-"People are intending to take action in the immediate future, and may begin taking small steps toward behaviour change"[nb 1]
Action – "People have made specific overt modifications in modifying their problem behaviour or in acquiring new healthy behaviours"
Maintenance – "People have been able to sustain action for a while and are working to prevent relapse"
Termination – "Individuals have zero temptation and they are sure they will not return to their old unhealthy habit as a way of coping"
