Some really interesting thoughts

Chris Ware's curator insight, April 30, 2013 1:55 AM

I want you to think about how drama can help you with real life siuations. Where and how could you use imprevisation skills? Can you recall a time, When you have used your drama skills, to get what you wanted?

Renae Phillips's curator insight, May 7, 2013 8:08 PM

They say Drama is just acting and has nothing to do with the real world, but i disagree strongly.  When have you been in a situation in the real world where you had to think fast on your feet and improvise?  Where have you used what you learnt in drama to help you get what you want in life? Drama is all about action reaction and plays a strong role in your everyday life.

How do You Improve Workplace Communication? Ask Questions | Box of Crayons

How do You Improve Workplace Communication? Ask Questions | Box of Crayons | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
Sometimes the best way to have a constructive conversation is to give a little less advice and ask a few more questions. When you shift from giving advice and offering solutions to asking questions, you might at first feel a little anxious. You might wonder, "How can I be helping if I'm just pestering with questions?" But if you think about it, asking questions can be a great way to practice mindful communication. To be mindful of communication essentially means to listen and think before speaking, to be mindful of what you say, to communicate with kindness and awareness. You can see how asking questions, in the right way, is a form of mindful communication—you need to stop and listen to the answers rather than jumping in to express your own thoughts. Your asking the right questions enables you and your teammates to come up with a successful game plan in a much more efficient way than if you had merely leapt in with your own solutions. How do Questions Improve Communication at Work?

When you finally get the promotion you deserve where you're managing multiple businesses a diverse workforce and revenue targets that will turn your hair grey is when loneliness at the top can kick in. You can't always divulge information to your direct reports and don't want to show to your boss that you don't have all the answers. That's where executive coaching comes in.

I was was fortunate to have been given a coach to guide and support me through my career and can really make the difference from being good to great. The recruitment industry remains a highly competitive industry and only those willing to take themselves out of their comfort zone will excel. Do reach out if you are that leader that wants to be great.

Nobody’s Better Than You

Nobody’s Better Than You | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
Don’t worry about the competition. Be number one in a class of one.
Ariana Amorim's insight:
"Along the way I have learned that comparison and competition are enemies of the artist. How did he get that assignment? How could she win that award? How many books did she sell? What’s his hourly rate? All that should matter is the piece of work that sits before you. There is you. There is your art. At the elemental level, nothing else matters. Call it my Theory of Originals. Don’t worry about the competition. Find what you do best. When the room is full or when the lines are long, form a line of your own. Be number one in a class of one. Once you’re there, nobody will be better than you, either."

5 Myths About Coaching - and What's More True! | By David Frank Gomes | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
One of the ways I think coaches can help themselves become more empowered is being familiar with some of the central myths around coaching. The truth is, although business and executive coaching is fairly ubiquitous, personal coaching is still in its infancy. And there are a tremendous amount of sticky sweet self help slogans out there that I believe do more harm than good.

Why Creativity is Too Important to Be Left to Artists

Why Creativity is Too Important to Be Left to Artists | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
Why Creativity is Too Important to Be Left to Artists - The Book of Life is the 'brain' of The School of Life, a gathering of the best ideas around wisdom and emotional intelligence.
Ariana Amorim's insight:
"Creativity isn’t a rare and highly dramatic activity; it’s not a side-show incidental to the core concerns of our lives. It’s something that – ideally – we’re always involved in. It’s a refusal to accept the world as it is in all its facets, it’s a commitment to doing better with what we have".

"Usually, we just put up with matters that are frustrating or disappointing. But when we get creative, we adapt what is to hand – combining, reorganising, starting afresh – so that it better matches our interests and ideals. It is the opposite of feeling stuck and resigned, it is a refusal to accept the status quo. The creative person is someone particularly committed to the idea that there must be a better way of going about things".

It’s there to teach you something about yourself and the world, but you’re not too attached to the outcome you’re going after. With a series of compass goals, life becomes a mixture of interconnecting wormholes that move you toward greater growth and fulfilment.
