The Power of Planning ‹ http://coachfederation.org/blog

Before we get into how to plan effectively, I need to level with you: planning requires discipline – it is not always easy!  You have to make it a priority, and you have to take it seriously. If you want it to work for you, you have to schedule time to plan, and not just every now and then – consistently. Make it a habit and learn to live by it. As a coach to business owners, and as an entrepreneur myself, I have learned it is the most supportive habit you could possibly adopt.

Ariana Amorim's insight:

From the article:

Planning always starts with the end in mind – looking at the results (e.g. revenue) you want to create, and figuring out what you need to do to make that happen. It’s a strategic process of starting with the big picture and working your way down to specific, measurable, manageable action steps – one question at a time.

What do I want to achieve? What are the steps it will take to achieve that? What must get done in order to accomplish each step? When will I do each of those things? What resources and support will help me accomplish those steps?

Doing What Works: Forward in Solution-Focused Change: Focusing Flashlights on Different Corners

Doing What Works: Forward in Solution-Focused Change: Focusing Flashlights on Different Corners | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

"Solution-focused coaches help clients to become aware of what has worked for them before. It may seem a bit strange that clients need coaches to identify what has worked before. Couldn't they have done that themselves? After all, the clients identify things they themselves have done well. Why could they not remember without the help of a coach? In The invisibility of what works I explained that it is actually not abnormal to not always be aware of what has worked before."

What Captures Your Attention Controls Your Life

What Captures Your Attention Controls Your Life | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

To learn about your own attention patterns, examine someone else's. Most motivational speakers, self-help writers, therapists and pharmacologists encourage us to focus on "me." They suggest that we look inward to understand and improve ourselves for a happier, better life. That's not wrong; it is just incomplete. Instead of just asking, "What most preoccupies me? Does it make the world seem welcoming or withholding?" reach out to someone else.

Life Coaching: The Four Gifts of Intention - Erickson College

Life Coaching: The Four Gifts of Intention - Erickson College | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

We all have our own personal big bang. A spark, a moment of truth, and we’re off. We start to follow an intention, an inspired idea, that moves us forward in the direction of a dream, our dream.

As soon as we have a dream, we need a time frame for its realization. The four gifts of intention give meaning to that time frame. We need to develop:

A strong plan. The physical framework (action steps) to realize the plan.Stakeholders who effectively get results from the plan.Meaningfulness; a community of enjoyment based on the successful realization of the plan.
Ariana Amorim's insight:

From the post: "Coaching is all about how we shape our lives through intention and attention. Coaching is also about how we share this attention and intention with each other. A coach pays powerful attention while a coachee focuses on a specific intention. We create a beautiful mind in our conversational dance together. This is the art and science of coaching."

An Effective Vision Does More Than Simply Show Where You're Going...

“Vision” is one of the most commonly used and most widely misunderstood terms. There’s a tremendous amount of power in a vision. But unfortunately when the term is not used or understood correctly, we lose out on the opportunity to access the power.

What we have discovered when looking closely at “vision” is that a picture the future is a powerful part of the vision, but it’s not enough. It must also include a significant purpose that explains why in order to provide an answer the question, “What’s next?”
