Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, April 29, 9:32 AM

Give it Up (Greater Good in Action)

Give it Up (Greater Good in Action) | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

A trick to bring yourself lasting happiness.

Research suggests that one of the biggest challenges to lasting happiness is our great capacity for adaptation: We tend to get used to the things that bring us pleasure in life, and before long, their positive effects wear off. We no longer enjoy them in the way we once did. However, research has identified a way to sustain these little pleasures over time: by temporarily giving them up. That can lead us to enjoy and savor that activity more once we resume it—and the ability to savor the small pleasures in life is a key to happiness. This practice guides you through the process of abstaining from a pleasurable activity for a week as a way to heighten your appreciation of it. Over time, the goal is not only to derive more pleasure from this activity but to recognize how we take lots of pleasures for granted and to try to savor them more.

Tackling Will Gaps: When A Coachee Doesn't Want to Change

Tackling Will Gaps: When A Coachee Doesn't Want to Change | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
One of the key transformational coaching tools is the concept I've termed, "Mind the Gap." This idea (which I didn't create) suggests that in order to effectively do something, we need knowledge, skills, capacity, emotional intelligence, and will. Before we talk strategy, let's make sure we're on the same page in defining a will gap. What Are Wil

Coaching to Shift Corporate Consciousness ‹ http://coachfederation.org/blog

Coaching to Shift Corporate Consciousness ‹ http://coachfederation.org/blog | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
Imagine if we could encourage our clients and their organizations to invest in evolving their consciousness?

To disrupt their habitual short term “stimulus-response” ways of operating in order to seriously connect with and redefine what value really means in the eyes of customers and potential users?

To find new ways of connecting people in organizations with their products or services that could really make their lives better, connect them to a broader community and to something bigger than themselves?

Wouldn’t the world be a better place for it?

How Teams can Profit from Band Experiences ‹ http://coachfederation.org/blog

How Teams can Profit from Band Experiences ‹ http://coachfederation.org/blog | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
How can teams and their leaders profit from music?

How can bands inspire their audience?

How can rhythm, sound and atmosphere play into success?

What remains after the band performance on the way home for the listeners?

I spend Thursday evenings at the modern Jazz school in Munich among others to find out the secrets behind those questions, to explore what is hidden behind rhythm and to examine what can be used and transferred to teams in the business world.
I want to introduce five concrete exercises from the band workshop that can be used by leaders and teams during daily business routines to raise customer’s enthusiasm.
