This interesting review of the book, The Real Jane Austen: A Life in Small Things" shows how the writer, Paula Byrne, studies Austen from the point-of-view of things in her life, and shows a woman who was lively and engaging, and loved children.
We find out that Austen not only had several flirtations, but also loved children, being a well-loved aunt to her many aunts and nieces. So, even though she was childless, she was, by no means, without children in her life.
