This is what it sounds like when you turn antique telephone switchboards into musical instruments

This is what it sounds like when you turn antique telephone switchboards into musical instruments | Algorithmic Music Composition | Scoop.it
There was an eerie hum emanating from a dimly lit room above a bakery on a side street in Durham. In the corner of the room, Lori Napoleon sat next to a series of old switchboards, draped in wires and covered in blinking red lights. She’s controlling the switchboards, which are creating the dronin

Sunflowers

Sunflowers | Algorithmic Music Composition | Scoop.it
The world is full of wonderful things, like sunflowers (Machanguito, my islander friend) Sunflower seeds are arranged following a mathematical pattern where golden ratio plays a starring role. There are tons of web sites explaining this amazing fact. In general, the arrangement of leaves on a plant stem are ruled by spirals. This fact is…

A K-8 Nexus Between Music Creation, Sound Design, and Computer Programming

This interactive session explores an elementary nexus between music
creation, sound design, and computer programming. The session begins with a
brief presentation on some of the ways the kids I work with explore music
creation, sound design, and computer programming, all within K-8 computer
programming classes. Following this brief presentation, we will work
together or independently to modify the music, sound, or code from a
variety of example projects. The session will end with a discussion on what
could be learned in a project like this and how we might implement similar
projects in the settings we facilitate. A laptop is recommended for this
session.

A Silky Drawing and a Tiny Experiment

It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data (Sherlock Holmes, A Scandal in Bohemia) One of my favorite entertainments is drawing things: crazy curves, imaginary flowers, celestial bodies, fractalic acacias ... but sometimes I wonder myself if these drawings result interesting to whom arrive to my blog. One way to define interesting could…
