THE closure of a Springvale needle exchange will increase the public's risk to exposed needles, warns State Labor MP for Lyndhurst Martin Pakula. Mr Pakula raised the closure on Tuesday in State Parliament, where he also warned drug users would be at greater risk from blood-borne diseases including HIV.

All prison systems should have a department with specialized drug treatment. Those many individuals in the prison population who are capable of change should be given the opportunity and the proper environment to do so. Failing to provide this will be at the expense of both the person in question and society as a whole.
