Alcohol protection orders being rushed  through the Northern Territory's Parliament will disadvantage  Aboriginal people and criminalise alcoholism, an Aboriginal legal  aid agency says.  Alcohol Protection Orders (APOs) are set to be introduced to  parliament next week, and have not been subject to a consultation  process, the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA)  says.

Cannabis has been used for medical purposes for centuries for treating a wealth of conditions from chronic pain to epilepsy.  Its use in modern medicine has been stunted because of side effects, however, with the Food and Drugs Administration unwilling to approve of its use.  Researchers with Louisiana State University have found a way to reduce the side effect of memory loss associated with cannabis use and said it could be adapted as a treatment for Alzheimer's.

Research has found young drinkers are far more likely to ‘pre-load’ on drinks and drugs before heading out to pubs and clubs, and that those who do are at greater risk of violence and risky behaviour, according to an expert from the University of Western Sydney.

We've seen plenty of research in recent years that indicates pre-loading has the greatest influence on behaviour (and subsequent harms) once people are 'out'.
