It's important to remember that the drug most commonly used in drinkspiking is alcohol.  This article also shows the importance of keeping an eye on your mates and the increase in potential harms if you are using alcohol or other drugs on your own.

A ban comes into force in the UK on Tuesday on the drug, khat, that is traditionally used by Ethiopian, Kenyan, Somali and Yemeni communities. The British government says outlawing khat brings the UK into line with other European countries where it is a controlled substance. However in Kenya's khat-growing Meru region, there is concern about the economic impact of the ban.

Government scientists will be at a major music festival this weekend to analyse samples of "legal highs", the Home Office said.  Tests will be conducted by researchers at V Festival in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, on Saturday and Sunday.  So-called "legal highs", including laughing gas, have been banned from the event for the last seven years.
