Maths Apps are the ones most frequently searched for on this site. I sometimes think that if I had some of these apps I would have taken a greater interest in Maths as a kid. It was not that I was disinterested I just missed some of the basics. With some of these game based apps at least students can be engaged long enough to discovery some of the basic maths concepts.
Discussions about technology in just about every school eventually turn to whether the iPad is a worthwhile device to deploy to students. Reactions will vary widely from gushing to … whatever the extreme opposite of gushing is.
At the core of the Learning Commons is the idea of each child, teen, and/or adult creating his/her own Personal Learning Environment. This site is "under construction" due to Dr. Loertscher's students continued work on the project. He describes it as taking control of the Internet portals and constructing our own opening to the world, for example, the iGoogle page. He also refers to the "public" versus "private" Internet existance.
