Flunking the integrity test

Flunking the integrity test | Politics in Alberta | Scoop.it
No more deception. That’s what Premier Jim Prentice promised Albertans following his appointment to the highest political rank in Alberta
Jody MacPherson's insight:

..."Alberta’s ethics legislation the worst in the country"

No kidding. And lying to get elected is considered ethical according to the current rules...I'm not exaggerating here. This is due to a technicality in a definition of "private interest." Doing something to increase or continue your pay as an MLA is not considered private interest.

Economic recession likely in Alberta this year

Jody MacPherson's insight:

“So if Alberta, for example, decides to dramatically cut spending then that would support the idea that we might be heading for a recession but on the other hand if the government decided ‘do we just tighten our belt and run a deficit for a couple of years’ then that would support the notion that we wouldn’t head to a deficit. So I don’t know what it is they are assuming the Alberta government is going to do.”
