Does Carat Size Matter?

“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” – Leo Robin Does size really matter? That is the question many people ask themselves when starting to shop for engagement rings. Of course every girl wants a rock of her very own, but what really matters is the sparkle and brilliance that the stone delivers. The value of a diamond is determined based on several factors. These factors are referred to as the 4 C’s: color, clarity, cut and carat. The combination of all four factors affects the value of the diamond, not just the carat weight. Color: Refers to the white appearance of the diamond. Diamonds with a whiter appearance have the look of higher quality. Clarity: Refers to the inclusions of the diamond. When picking a diamond you want to choose a clarity that is flawless to the naked eye. Good choices are VVS, VS and Si. Cut: Refers to the shape of the diamond. The cut reflects the brilliance and life of the diamond. You want your diamond to sparkle and pop. Carat: Refers to the weight

10 Alternative Wedding Exit Toss Ideas

“Every exit is an entry somewhere else.” – Tom Stoppard Fun Fact: “Throwing things” at a newly married couple is actually a very old tradition, dating back to the Ancient Roman and Egyptian times. The intention was to wish the newlyweds good luck, sometimes even fertility and abundance depending on the items thrown. Originally rice was a common item to be thrown as the bride and groom as they leave the wedding ceremony. For some cultures, throwing rice or grains at the wedding was a blessing for the wish of a healthy and large crop so the couple could be prosperous. Nowadays, lots of different items are being thrown at the wedding exit. Some are still food related, while others add a burst of color and flair to the departure of the bride and groom. And some items even go along with the wedding theme, for example, mini beach balls for a beach themed wedding or fake snow for a winter wonderland wedding. If you’re not sure what item to have tossed at your wedding, A. JAFFE ha

Places to Not Wear Your Engagement Ring

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage” – Lao Tzu A.JAFFE is just as obsessed with engagement rings as you are.  We know engaged women love to flaunt their new rings, show them off to friends and family, and wear them everywhere, but there are just some places that engagement rings shouldn’t go. The Beach During the summertime, the beach is one of the best places to go to relax, spend time with friends, and appreciate the beauty of life; however it is one of the worst places to wear your engagement ring.  Although it seems like common sense, many women actually wear their engagement rings in the water and lose them forever.  Even if you are not planning to go in the water, there is always the opportunity for sand to get stuck in your ring or scratch it which will make it appear dull.  Hot weather can cause food and drinks to melt and become messy which can also make engagement rinks look dull.  If you forget to tak

What to Wear to a Wedding

“Within you I lose myself, without you I find myself wanting to be lost again.” –Unknown   Trying to decide on an outfit to wear to an ultra-formal, formal or informal wedding can be a little challenging. Sure, you don’t want to upstage the bride and her bridesmaids but you still want to turn heads. In general, you will want to wear something that is feminine and appropriate, out of respect for your hosts. Avoid anything that looks like club wear, see-through and white. Use good judgment when it comes to getting dressed. Wearing classic silhouettes with minimal details is the best way to go.   Strapless: Strapless dresses are perfect for day and evening weddings. Depending on the time of the ceremony, consider wearing a short dress for semi-formal daytime and floor length for formal evening; choose from floral print or vibrant colors. Printed Dress: A printed dress is perfect for a garden or destination wedding. Pair it with black or nude color heels to keep the focus up top

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are officially engaged. On Monday, October 21st, Kanye popped the question with lots of style and flair. Before asking the question, Kanye followed old-school practices. He asked future mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, for her daughter s hand in marriage. After the approval was given, Kanye executed his master proposal plan. And what an extravaganza it was. Kayne wanted this proposal to be very special and unforgettable. In doing so, he rented out AT&T Park, a baseball stadium, for the occasion, inviting Kim’s closest friends and family. Then Kanye blasted PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!! on the huge Jumbotron. If that wasn’t grand enough, he also had a 50-piece orchestra playing Lana Del Rey s Young and Beautiful, followed by Keri Hilson, Ne-Yo and Kanye s Knock You Down. And he topped it all off with fireworks and Roman candles lighting up the sky. After the show was done, Kim said, “YES!” Of course she did! With a proposal like that, who wouldn’t? Kanye got

All marriages go through some rough patches. It s impossible to spend more than 50 years with a person and never have disagreements. The worst thing you could do when experiencing a problem is to start giving up things you used to love together. Early on in dating, there is almost non-stop smooching, texting just to see how the other person is, and butterflies in the stomach. They shouldn’t disappear after a couple years of saying “I do”. Here are 7 things married couples need to take from newly dating couples: Holding hands Get back in the habit of holding hands remember a more innocent time when his hand around yours was all you needed.
