"This revised and augmented version of the Family Law Glossary (Common Law) is published as part of a project undertaken in 1981 by the National Program for the Integration of Both Official Languages in the Administration of Justice (POLAJ) to standardize the French terminology of common-law vocabulary. Since the beginning of the project, a series of publications have been produced: the Vocabulaire bilingue de la common law — Droit de la preuve, Canadian Bar Association, 1984; theCanadian Common Law Dictionary — Law of Property and Estates, Yvon Blais Inc., 1997; the Law of Trusts Glossary, Public Works and Government Services Canada, 2005; the Law of Contracts and Law of Torts Glossary (Common Law), Public Works and Government Services Canada, 2008; the Law of Security Glossary (Common Law), Public Works and Government Services Canada, 2009; and the Family Law Glossary (Common Law) Fascicle 1 (2010), Fascicles 2 and 3 (2011), and final version (2013), Public Works and Government Services Canada.
This new edition replaces the first four editions. It contains 1,920 English terms, the French equivalents of which have been standardized. The term-analysis documents were prepared by the Centre de traduction et de terminologie juridiques (CTTJ) in Moncton, which also coordinated the project, the Centre for Legal Translation and Documentation (CLTD) in Ottawa and the Translation and Terminology Centre of the Translation Bureau of Canada (TTC-TB). These centres and the TB worked in collaboration with the Centre de ressources en français juridique in Winnipeg, the Centre canadien de français juridique Inc.(CCFJ) in Winnipeg, and the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law.
The contributions of the jurilinguistic centres to this project have been made possible by funding from the Department of Justice Canada under the Access to Justice in Both Official Languages Support Fund.
The term-analysis documents used by the Standardization Committee and the User Committee to standardize the French equivalents may be consulted on the Website of the Centre de traduction et de terminologie juridiques (CTTJ) (Available only in French) de Moncton."

"A Dictionary of Journalism is an accessible and authoritative quick reference dictionary. It covers over 1,400 wide-ranging entries on the terms that are likely to be encountered by students of the subject, and aims to offer a broad, accessible point of reference on an ever-topical and constantly-changing field that affects everyone's knowledge and perception of the world.
Assuming little or no prior knowledge of the subject, it covers terminology relating to the practice, business, and technology of journalism, as well as its concepts and theories, organizations and institutions, publications, and key events. Related topic areas are covered where they impact on or offer explanations of journalism: for example in law, where legislation affects journalistic activity; and where sociological studies seek to aid the understanding of journalism. Appendices include a timeline of journalistic developments, contextualising the ever-evolving nature of journalism, as well as an index of significant individuals in the field."

The Online Atlas of Ophthalmology is the biggest database with high-quality, peer-reviewed and commented pictures on the entire Internet. It is accessible for free - in English, Spanish and German.
The Atlas of Ophthalmology is a pictorial documentation of eye disease. Emphasis is placed on showing and describing the clinical picture and its various stages as it is seen in photographs and by ancillary tests, rather than giving a detailed overview of the whole disease. Presently the Atlas contains about 2500 pictures. In its "Vision for the Future" the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) has made education and training of students, residents and specialists as well as other healthcare personnel all over the world one of its main goals. The Atlas is part of this effort. One of its declared vehicles is the utilization of the World Wide Web for transmitting this educational information. The advantage of an Internet-based publication is that it can be easily updated. By inviting the readership to contribute to the atlas it is hoped that with time only the best documentation will be shown. The use of this atlas is free of charge as long as it is used for educational purposes, and as computers are becoming more and more affordable its information will be available to any health care personnel all over the world."

"The whole field of fisheries is so beset with jargon and acronmyns that for anyone wishing to understand the issue, it can be a nightmare. Add to that increasing calls to protect marine wildlife, which has led to new terminology, particularly relating to the Habitats and Species Directive. At a time when the European Commission is pushing for consideration of the environment alongside all activities (through a process called integration), it is important to ensure that all those involved with fisheries and the environment have a common understanding of terms. This is why this glossary of terms for marine nature conservation and fisheries was commissioned. There has been wide consultation with a cross section of individuals over the definition of terms, which in itself helped increase common understanding. It is of paramount importance that integration of fisheries and the environment occurs in practice, at the grass roots level and not just in principle. We hope that this glossary will help to achieve such an aim.
A number of communications from the European Union stress the importance of disseminating scientific information in a way that is easily understood. The EC Biodiversity Strategy [COM(1998)42] calls on the Community to develop programmes for public information, education and awareness raising on conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. This should also apply to the Commission’s action plan for biodiversity in fisheries. A similar commitment applies in relation to information on the impact of fisheries on marine ecosystems. "

"A new edition of the Tour de France begun last Saturday and it will keep around 200 men pedalling across France and some parts of the United Kingdom until the end of the month; when the fastest one will cross the Champs Élysées in Paris to become the winner of the 101th edition of the race. This year, the Tour will have 21 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,664 kilometres, with only two rest days.
For this reason, this week’s IATE Term of the Week is the widely employed French term maillot, or the coloured tight-fitting tops cyclists are awarded with at the end of each stage. Maillots are not given randomly though, each colour has ..."

"The Automotive Dictionary is a specialised dictionary for the automotive sector. New terms are being coined in this sector all the time, and we are convinced of the need to compile and analyse them. That is why we brought together various companies in the sector (Batz, Cikautxo, Ekin, Elay, GKN and Maier) and with the help of the advisory service provided by terminology experts in the Elhuyar Language & Technology Unit we have produced this dictionary, in which we have gathered the terms we use in our everyday work, and which we are making available to the general public.
It is clear that globalisation is leading us to another business reality and that from one year to the next the number of companies immersed in internationalisation processes is on the increase. In this new reality, we companies find ourselves having to manage various languages, be it in work processes, in relations with clients and suppliers, in relations among workers or in resources and computing applications.
So, properly managing languages and setting up a language strategy at work is a key aspect for competitiveness, as it allows us to display greater proximity to the client. Bearing this aim in mind, there is no doubt that managing the terminology of our sector and our companies has been a very important step.
This dictionary seeks to gather the multilingual terminology of the automotive sector and thus meet the terminology needs of companies, professionals and experts in this field.
We have produced the Automotive Dictionary to be able to effectively meet the communication needs of automotive sector users. The dictionary has started off with 2,650 items used in the automotive sector in 6 languages (English, Basque, Spanish, French, German and Chinese). The items have been classified into the different areas of automotive engineering, in line with the classification proposed by the ACICAE (Automotive Cluster of the Basque Autonomous Community)."
