Offering compassion and understanding to children living with grief and loss is essential to help our young ones move through difficult news that they cannot process in real time. The feeling of a loving, caring adult who is a “bigger, stronger, wiser and kind” container for their story, their perceptions and feelings is very important when dealing with the aftermath of a situation of loss.

Gone are the days of keeping grief from children, or keeping them from a funeral.  We are learning that we must connect with children, teach them good grieving children and include them in the grieving process

Their names were Bandar and Pixel. When they died, Bandar in 2013 and Pixel in 2014, Linda Schenk of Towson was shaken. She had owned both cats for 15 years. They'd been with her through a move to California and back home to Baltimore and a marriage, and their deaths left her sad and bereft.
