ArcGIS Online for Organizations Pricing Announced - All Points Blog

ArcGIS Online for Organizations Pricing Announced - All Points Blog | Imagem Agronegócio | Scoop.it

ArcGIS Online organizational subscriptions cost $500 per year per user for a minimum of five users, including credits for CPU use, data storage and bandwidth, Dangermond said. The credits are designed to be enough for "normal" use, although not necessarily for a public site receiving a million visits a day, or storage of, say, satellite imagery for the planet, Dangermond said.

Elinor Ostrom: "Green from the Grassroots"

Elinor Ostrom: "Green from the Grassroots" | Imagem Agronegócio | Scoop.it
Inaction in Rio would be disastrous, but a single international agreement would be a grave mistake. We cannot rely on singular global policies to solve the problem of managing our common resources: the oceans, atmosphere, forests, waterways, and rich diversity of life that combine to create the right conditions for life, including seven billion humans, to thrive.

The death of economics Nobel Prize winner Elinor Ostrom a few days before the Rio+20 conference is symbolic. Just like she lost the fight against cancer, humanity is losing the battle for a healthy planet. Her work on the commons should have been the starting point for the Rio conference.

ArcGIS 10.1, the highly anticipated update to ArcGIS, is now available. The new release puts mapping and geospatial analytics into the hands of more people than ever—even those with no geographic information system (GIS) expertise. ArcGIS is a complete system for designing and managing solutions with geographic knowledge.

ArcGIS 10.1 further integrates desktops and servers, as well as mobile and web applications. Users can author maps, models, and analytics and deliver any GIS resource, including imagery, geodata, and tools, as a web service. With the introduction of ArcGIS Online for organizations, a cloud-based, collaborative content management system, geographic information is easier to share within and outside an organization.

The Scandinavian Chapter of the ICCA create first sustainable index

The Scandinavian Chapter of the ICCA create first sustainable index | Imagem Agronegócio | Scoop.it

Scandinavian cities are taking pioneer steps to advance their leadership in sustainable meetings but there is potential to improve and drive performance.

This was the conclusion of the unique study commissioned by ICCA Scandinavian Chapter, and conducted by MCI Sustainability Services.

The Index uses 16 performance indicators to measure and benchmark the sustainability commitment and performance of the city government and the destination infrastructure (recycling, renewable energy etc), and the sustainability commitment and performance of the local meetings industry.

Erika Eischer, Head of Congress Department, Tampere Hall and Chair of the ICCA Scandinavian Chapter comments: “Our clients are concerned about the ethical, social and environmental performance of their suppliers. We need to make it easier for our clients to organize a sustainable meeting in our destinations. The Index helps us to transparently communicate our performance and progress.”

The Index is one of the deliverables of a multi-year ICCA Scandinavian Chapter project to create the world´s first sustainable meetings region. Already over 50 organizations including Convention and Visitor Bureaus, Destination Marketing Organizations, Venues and Agencies have signed the Scandinavia Sustainable Meetings Accord launched in March 2012. The Accord outlines 10 specific actions, which all signatories commit to, in order to advance sustainable development within the meetings and events industry.

New in Geostatistical Analyst 10.1 : Areal Interpolation | ArcGIS Resource Center | Imagem Agronegócio | Scoop.it

For version 10.1, we’ve taken on a classic problem in GIS: how to reallocate data from one set of polygons to a different set of polygons.  For example, demographers frequently collect data from various sources, so their data might be a mixture of census block groups, postal codes, and county boundaries.  However, to perform an accurate analysis, they might need all of their data in the same administrative units.

Introducing ArcGIS 10.1 | ArcNews

Introducing ArcGIS 10.1 | ArcNews | Imagem Agronegócio | Scoop.it
The release of ArcGIS 10.1 signals a major development in the way geographic information will be accessed and managed by GIS professionals and their organizations in the years to come. ArcGIS 10.1 gives GIS professionals a complete GIS that further integrates desktops and servers, as well as mobile and web applications. It provides organizations with the additional tools and infrastructure they need to extend the reach of their existing GIS. It also improves organizations' ability to transition to next-generation GIS concepts and platforms without jeopardizing their current GIS investments.

New to ArcGIS Online is ArcGIS Online for organizations—a customizable, web-based system designed for professionals who want to manage their organizations' geospatial content using cloud tools and infrastructure. It allows administrative control over data creation and access while making geographic information easily available to others within the organization, as well as beyond the organization in collaborative efforts with others. ArcGIS for Local Government 10.1 Release Coming Soon | ArcGIS Resource Center

ArcGIS for Local Government 10.1 Release Coming Soon | ArcGIS Resource Center | Imagem Agronegócio | Scoop.it
s we near the final release of ArcGIS 10.1 and head into the Esri User Conference season, we wanted to take a minute to tell you about our plans for the ArcGIS for Local Government solution. We’ve got lots of things in motion right now and are working towards a large User Conference release. Here is what we have planned:

1. The release of the new ArcGIS for Local Government Resource Center.

The new resource center includes a completely redesigned landing page and gallery making it easier for you to find maps and apps to leverage in your organization. It also includes a completely redesigned Partner page highlighting Specialty Partners who provide implementation services and apps in the ArcGIS for Local Government ecosystem. More information on the launch of the new resource center can be found here.

2. A FINAL update to every local government map and app currently available for ArcGIS 10.0.

The updates include the latest local government information model, documentation, and updates to each application (new releases of each Add-In and the latest JavaScript and Flex APIs). The updates also include several enhancements and address any bugs that have been submitted to date.

3. The first ArcGIS 10.1 release for each map and app.

This release marks the start of a quarterly release schedule for the ArcGIS for Local Government solution. We are doing several things to make it easier for you to download and configure the maps and apps for your organization including a single consolidated download, and an online help system. We are also identifying maps and apps that can be deployed with ArcGIS Online hosted services.......

Smartphones protegem reserva indígena

Smartphones protegem reserva indígena | Imagem Agronegócio | Scoop.it

Sustainability should not be consigned to history by Shared Value

Sustainability should not be consigned to history by Shared Value | Imagem Agronegócio | Scoop.it
If Shared Value is to offer real, long term transformation it must address the flaws of capitalism, look beyond incrementalism and not just align commercial and societal goals, says John Elkington...

Good critique by sustainable business expert Elkington of the Shared Value approach developed by Michael Porter and Mark Kramer. But Elkington's own "triple bottom line" is as flawed as Porter's. Both of them do not put "ecological limits" at the heart of the transformational agenda.
