Dec. 21, 2012 Future historians may well look back and write about our time …. about how willing we are to sacrifice our children and jeopardize future generations with this massive experiment that is based on false promises and flawed science just to benefit the “bottom line of a commercial enterprise,” said Don Huber, referring to the North American “experiment” with glyphosate and genetically modified crops... http://www.producer.com/2012/12/scientist-raises-concerns-about-gm-crops-and-glyphosate/

The documentary film "Vanishing of the Bees" unveils the phenomenon called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and the real causes of bee death all over the U.S." The danger of accumulated pesticides in the environment and the lack of USA federal agency oversight in favor of manufacturers's studies without independent review is a major cause for concern. 90% of food we eat is treated with pesticides, over a billion pounds of these toxic chemicals are used annually on the huge agricultural western monocrop farms. Before releasing these highly toxic chemicals into our environment, a responsible nation would ensure that independent interdisciplinary studies are carried out to determine affects on both our ecosystems AND human health.

A new, crowd-sourced website plans to document every angle of the food system. Given its stated aim of documenting "the entire food system", and given that ANYONE can upload photos and tell the story of their food, it seems like there is an opportunity for activists to tell the stories of the industrial food system through this platform too. Robyn O'Brien, child-health advocate, shares her personal story and how it inspired her current path as a "Real Food" evangelist. Grounded in a successful Wall Street career that was more interested in food as good business than good-for-you, this mother of four was shaken awake by the dangerous allergic reaction of one of her children to a "typical" breakfast. Her mission to unearth the cause revealed more about the food industry than she could stomach, and impelled her to share her findings with others. A June 2011 ABC News poll found that 93 percent of Americans believe that genetically modified foods should be labeled.
Despite consumer opposition, adoption of transgenic crops has been rapid in the U.S., but limited in the main to the major commodity crops, of which genetically engineered varieties now make up the vast majority: soybean (93% transgenic in 2010), cotton (88%) corn (86%), and canola (64%).
