"We'll make a killing out of food crisis. Drought is good for business", boasts world's largest commodities trading company boss, Chris Mahoney
A senior economist at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization says that "Now is the time to change the rules and regulations" governing trade in global commodities so that companies don't cash in on the global food crisis. The suggestion by Concepcion Calpe followed remarks by Chris Mahoney, director of agriculture trading at Glencore, that the current "environment is a good one. High prices, lots of volatility, a lot of dislocation, tightness, a lot of arbitrage opportunities."
