The GeoPower Africa summit in Dar Es Salaam last week saw some really constructive and frank input from KenGen's chairman and expert board members on how to get a geothermal energy project really moving. Drill! was the message. You must survey, look for resources, then get right in and drill. The energy is there, as a presentation from WWF later emphasised. It always has been - it just needs unlocking.

African countries look to enjoy the cooperative and constructive partnership with Japan that Indonesia and Thailand have been able to benefit from in the past. Japanese political leaders come and go like video games and visual kei trends in the country, but policy and partnership seem to remain solid across such paradigm shifts.
