Leslie Minton's curator insight, January 24, 2014 7:52 AM

Rigor across curriculum content, not just a particular subject matter is essential to effective teaching and learning. It is knowing what rigor is in order to determine if it exists.

Nancy Jones's curator insight, January 24, 2014 8:59 PM

This iactually the second article of a series . This is a  word used frequently, but it's definition varies.  I  think rigor need to also differentiate , say, reading levels so each learner is challenged from the level they are currently at. Rigor does not mean, "one size fits all!"

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, January 25, 2014 3:03 AM

A text does not the curriculum make. The curriculum is what the children learn and mesh with their lived history. The ultimate test is Life and all its manifestions according to Alfred North Whitehead.

Russell R. Roberts, Jr.'s curator insight, August 29, 2:08 AM

Fascinating and intriguing article by Christina Pratas on the developing trends in education.  Some of the trends to watch include:

Changing Demographics; For profit schools losing influence; Increased need for bandwidth to accommodate student digital devices; open education resources as opposed to expensive text books; test administration online rather than through written exams; and a push for more STEM courses (science, technology, engineering, and math) in grades K-12.  Radical changes are coming to the face of American education.  Aloha, Russ.

Presentation Rubric: Is your presentation ready for an A+? | Affordable Learning | Scoop.it

Most colleges and business schools use a Presentation Rubric to evaluate their students. Funny thing is, they’re not usually that open about sharing it with their students (as if that would do any harm!)

Well, we don’t believe in shutting down information. Quite the contrary: I think the best way to practice your speech is to know exactly what is being tested!
