A 10 step checklist to continually improve on this important skill:

1. Your improvement … is directly related to your practice

2. If the story is boring to you … it will be boring to you audience

3. Learn to tell … both sides of the story

4. Experiments with styles … try new things

5. Get into a routine … and stick to it

6. Read a lot … diverse sources/topics … all the time

7. Take notes … on the best ideas/favorite things you find … save them

8. There doesn’t always … have to be a moral to your story

9. Take breaks … I shoot for every 90 minutes or so … and do something totally different (like a yard task)

10. Review your notes … every few weeks for idea combination and synthesis

Digital channels continue to provide advertisers with an ever-growing number of options for marketing to consumers, but there's a problem: many of their messages don't get through.

Many consumers, bombarded by ads, many of which they see as annoyances, have blinded themselves to certain types of ad units, and some, in an attempt to squash ads altogether, have turned to ad blocking software. Coupled with poorly-placed units, advertisers often have no idea how many of their ads have actually been viewed or were even viewable, prompting calls for viewability standards.
