How Apple Creates Huge Sales 1st Day of a Launch [Inographic + Marty Note]

How Apple Creates Huge Sales 1st Day of a Launch [Inographic + Marty Note] | Advertising and Marketing | Scoop.it

Infographics on how Apple get Millions of Turnover sales of gadgets on 1st day of launch with excellent marketing efforts by converting customers into sales...

Marty Note
Fascinating Infographic from Chintan Jain on how Apple creates amazing PR worthy sales on Day 1 of a launch. Personally I don't wait in lines for meals or new technology, but a lot of people do. One thing I've learned about PR is a long line outside an Apple store is the kind of news that starts a very positive PR cycle. You know the snowball rolling down a hill syndrome where the line becomes the story and so the line gets longer.

Positive virtual cycles like Apple's day 1 launch power are impressive and profitable online or off.

Are Content Curators The Power Behind Social Media Influence?

Are Content Curators The Power Behind Social Media Influence? | Advertising and Marketing | Scoop.it

"ExactTarget’s research shows that only 7% of online users are megaphones. It’s unclear where exactly these Curators are drawn from in the traditional triangle, but according to ExactTarget, 65% percent of them are creators. I expect the remainder span some part of the commenters."

It's true. There's conventional wisdom that on the Web 90% only consume content, 9% primarily comment, and 1% are content creators. So where do the new class of content curators (like yours truly) belong?

Google Pivots To Mobile/Search, The Future Of Mobile And Possibly The Web

Google Pivots To Mobile/Search, The Future Of Mobile And Possibly The Web | Advertising and Marketing | Scoop.it

Armed with your mobile phone you are now a mobile sensor, careening along your footpath, reading your email, consuming your information, enriching your journey with timely recommendations as you dodge passersby.

Tap. Swipe. Pinch. Zoom. Learn of the world.
And the world quietly learns about you, at least as organized by Google. Soon you won't be wondering what else you can do with your phone, you'll be amazed by what it does for you - at least that's the promise of GoogleNow. Google Now is more of a mobile experience than an application, more of a search service than a search action. It could well redefine mobile search.

Marty Note
It dosn't take a genius to realize the 3 most important things to Internet marketers right this minute and are all named MOBILE. Mobile/Search completes the evoluiton of search from static and absolute to dyanmic, floating and everywhere. Yes, as this article points out and we all suspect, the amount of information THEY will know about US is about to be staggering. Let's hope we get relevant returns in the trade :).M

Quit Building Links for SEO

Quit Building Links for SEO | Advertising and Marketing | Scoop.it
To say that I have lost faith in building backlinks for SEO would be a huge understatement. The issue isn’t building backlinks though. The issue is the common strategies, in which we build them.

**** Boy do I think Greg is on to something here. Backlinks in a world awash with social seem flawed at best and dangerous at most. There are rumors too pretty backlinks will mess up your ratings post Panda and that seems consistent with where Google is moving with the index float based on social and millions of other tiny factors.

These changes (and more to come I suspect) mean something I've longed believed is now fully true - best backlink building strategy is purple cow content (to steal from Seth Godin). The randomness of the links and LIKES purple cow content create will tickle instead of enrage the Panda. Marty

Do Organizations Need a Chief Content Officer? | Advertising and Marketing | Scoop.it

Few organizations have an overarching strategy that channels all this branded content into a consolidated planning model. In parallel, we see lack of defined leadership for overall orchestration and accountability for content-driven programs.
