AMERICAN FARMERS APPEAL TO SUPREME COURT

AMERICAN FARMERS APPEAL TO SUPREME COURT | GMOs | Scoop.it
Arun Shrivastava's insight:

The defense of Farmer Gerritsen is sound and relies on a Judgement of 1817....."Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story wrote in 1817, to be patentable, an invention must not be "injurious to the well-being, good policy, or sound morals of society," and "a new invention to poison people ... is not a patentable invention."

"Because transgenic seed, and in particular Monsanto's transgenic seed, is "injurious to the well-being, good policy, or sound morals of society" and threatens to "poison people," Monsanto's transgenic seed patents are all invalid."

Go man, GO!!

Arun Shrivastava's insight:

Genetically Modified foods threaten human and animal health and the environment. The new Australian GM wheat in development by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial  Research Organisation (CIRO), an Australian governmental research agency, may permanently  alter the genes of the humans and animals that consume it. Some scientists have even said that it could prove to be fatal within five years. Through ingestion,” says Professor Jack Heinemann of the University of  Canterbury Centre for Integrated Research in Biosafety, “these molecules can  enter human beings and potentially silence our genes.” The double stranded RNAs  present in this modified wheat would also survive cooking, digestion, and  generations of life

Why is the Gates foundation investing in GM giant Monsanto? | GMOs | Scoop.it
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's investments in Monsanto and Cargill have come under heavy criticism. Is it time for the foundation to come clean on its visions for agriculture in developing countries?
Arun Shrivastava's insight:

Well, it's not about money making. Bill Gates and other elites want to kill 6 billion people worldwide. That agenda is far advanced, has been on for at least 13 years in a well coordinated manner.

93% of the Public Wants GMO Labeling—Monsanto and the Big Agribusiness Giants Plan to Spend Millions in Propaganda to Change Our Minds

93% of the Public Wants GMO Labeling—Monsanto and the Big Agribusiness Giants Plan to Spend Millions in Propaganda to Change Our Minds | GMOs | Scoop.it
Polls show it will take a lot more than new public relations tricks to convince consumers.
Arun Shrivastava's insight:

This story is about the USA not India, not Europe. So, the dumb sheeple, 93% of them, want GMOs labelled while their "elected" Government bombs and drones 70 countries, from 100s of bases, in every corner of the world.

And the Indian Government, made up of 100% dumb sheeples, slaves of the American Government, side kicks, ass lickers, want to push the same GMOs up the ass of 1.2 billion useless eaters. It is no more about US or India....the whole world is 7 billion useless eaters except the European elite, a few banksters families and the rogue managers.

Supreme Court committee says no to GM crops

Supreme Court committee says no to GM crops | GMOs | Scoop.it

Read how Supreme Court committee says no to GM crops on PardaPhash

Arun Shrivastava's insight:

The Technical Expert Committee [TEC] appointed by the Supreme Court of India to tender expert advice on matters regarding planting of genetically engineered [GE] crops has recommended that GE crops should not be allowed at all, given the limited understanding of chronic toxicity.

This is an excellent move.

The activists are happy patting each others' back and thumping their chests. This is unfortunate.

We all know the nature of biological contamination: it intensifies over time and space. Illegally planted rice and wheat seeds have already contaminated large swathes of land in the USA. Canada can't grow natural canola or soy because all natural seeds are now contaminated.

So, what are the activists and NGOs happy about?

Ten years from now, India will not see one GMO-free natural foods.

GMO Protests Aren’t Enough to Slow Monsanto Company (MON) Down - Insider Monkey

GMO Protests Aren’t Enough to Slow Monsanto Company (MON) Down - Insider Monkey | GMOs | Scoop.it
Are the anti-GMO protests really going anywhere? Activist voices against genetically modified organisms might have pitched louder in recent months, but...
Arun Shrivastava's insight:

Unfortunately, that is the truth. The world can keep shouting and the activists can go ahead with banners like 'SAY NO TO GMO', the plantings are going on, American farmers are buying the seeds, others are being pressured into buying or a mixed bag of seeds [GM+Hybrids] is being sold to farmers around the world. Given the scale of operations of Monsanto, Syngenta, DuPont, and others, not only in seeds but in genetically modifying fishes and animals, and the way they control the regulators, shouting alone is not going to help. What may help is small lawsuits in districts combined with direct communication with farmers.

Are Your Gastro-Intestinal Issues Connected to GM Food?

Are Your Gastro-Intestinal Issues Connected to GM Food? | GMOs | Scoop.it
We are creatures of habit. Lets face it. We buy our snacks in fancy packages, and enjoy the carefully engineered delicious food, without thinking about it. Perhaps it is time to start connecting some dots.
Arun Shrivastava's insight:

"...Other studies, that didn't make mainstream news, indicate a link between GMO food and severe organ damage, cancer, kidney damage, tumors and premature death. For example, it is not a secret that rats fed with GMO's grow disgusting tumors, again as shown by documented scientific published studies."

And yet the US Government persists with thoughtless approval of Genetically Engineered plant materials and animals as food. Exactly like the US Government leaders and regulators, the Indian political leadership and regulators are behaving with the same criminal intent as their American counterparts.

Arun Shrivastava's insight:

Giles Seralini discusses the why biosafety assessments have not been done satisfactorily by biotechnology firms. He says that if they did all the tests, their business will fold up.

Dr PM Bhargava had said that GM crops should be completely banned for at least 20 years until all biosafety studies are completed.

Needless to remind, GMOs are actually WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. The US and NATO countries are in a hurry to kill as many of us as they can. Including their own citizens.

GMO corn, which is a MAJOR crop being pushed by Monsanto and is planted on huge acreage in the US, is not safe for animals or humans.

Re-analyzing Monsanto's studies on safety of GMO corn, French prof. Seralini found that the studies that Monsanto submitted to gain approval for the corn, showed that the results were skewed to show safety when actually they showed serious adverse health effects in the animals studied.

‘Monsanto’ guilty of Chemical Poisoning in France | World Truth.TV

Arun Shrivastava's insight:

This had to happen. Good that it happened in France. The French people should also note that AREVA, the state owned nuclear corporation, is guilty of similar crimes in Africa. They can't continue with double standards.

The global demonstration against Monsanto has exposed the US Government and it POTUS, about whom no one knows how got to the White House. He signed the Monsanto Protection Act which means he ignored saner advice and chose to dupe the American people. He does not represent the people's interests in his own country.

The world has firmly rejected genetically engineered seeds and foods forcing Monsanto to back down in Europe.

http://www.activistpost.com/2013/06/monsanto-concedes-defeat-in-face-of.html

And in the US itself, critics are now targeting USDA. How could they plant unapproved GM wheat?

http://www.nationofchange.org/monsanto-s-genetically-modified-wheat-not-approved-commercial-planting-found-farm-1370093257

The wheat contamination event reminds me of rice contamination when Bayer's Liberty Link variety contaminated American rice leading to rejection of the entire consignment in Europe.

We in India will have to resort to stronger agitation, perhaps hundreds of court cases against Monsanto and their local licensees.

Senate Shoots Down GMO Labeling Bill

Senate Shoots Down GMO Labeling Bill | GMOs | Scoop.it
Senators in Washington D.C. voted against a key GMO labeling amendment to the Farm bill. One that would have allowed states to decide to label GMOs.
Arun Shrivastava's insight:

She doesn’t want to hear about the study that showed GMO-fed rats developed mass tumors and died premature deaths. Senators like her don’t seem to care that research has shown GMO corn to be a contributor to the obesity epidemic. Apparently, studies linking GMO crops to lung damage, cancer, organ damage, and immune suppression aren’t “good enough” for the FDA, so they aren’t “good enough” for lawmakers."

But the Standing Committee on Agriculture in the Indian Parliament came out with a 400 page report recommending complete ban of GM crops in India. It was a well researched study and it was approved unanimously by committee members cutting across party lines. And yet this Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh, having failed to push through a bill to protect firms like Monsanto is now on the sly pushing an ordinance through Presidential order. This is bypassing the Parliament as the highest law making body.

Given the evidences, the people of India have sound reason to charge Man Mohan Singh, Ag-Minister Sharad Pawar and senior officers in the advisory body for treason.

Mysterious Deaths in Alabama: Could They Be Related to Monsano's Bt Cotton Crops? |

Mysterious Deaths in Alabama: Could They Be Related to Monsano's Bt Cotton Crops? | | GMOs | Scoop.it
There is no proof that this is related to the illnesses in Alabama, however, history shows us that serious illnesses occurred in India wherever Bt cotton was grown.
Arun Shrivastava's insight:

"The mysterious illness has sickened its victims with flu-like symptoms, including a shortness of breath, fever, and coughing. Of the seven people who were hospitalized with the new disease, two have died,"

Reports of mild to severe allergic reactions started coming from all over the world where Genetically Engineered seeds were planted. Reactions like skin eruption and choking were reported almost ten years ago. Indonesian farmer reported of severe allergic reactions. Doctors felt that GE plantings can cause untreatable illnesses.

Sheep grazing on harvested cotton fields have died. IN Andhra buffaloes died too. Autopsy showed up death by toxins. A German farmer lost all his 70 cows that were fed GE fodder.

Thus, it has been known that Genetically Engineered crops can cause serious health problems. Yet the USDA, USAID and the US Government have been forcing GE seeds for both food and non food crops around the world.

SYNGENTA SUED OVER CATTLE DEATHS FROM GM FEED

Arun Shrivastava's insight:

Finally Syngenta, the Swiss firm, has been charged. A German farmer had used Syngenta's Genetically Engineered corn as feed for his cows. All his 65 cows died of toxicity and a Swiss laboratory had confirmed that the deaths occurred from Bt toxins that were present in the body in stable form.

"The charges bring to light just how far large biotechnology companies will go to conceal evidence linking their genetically modified products to serious harm. Monsanto, for example, has even threatened to sue the entire state of Vermont if they attempt to label its genetically modified ingredients. Why are they so afraid of the consumer knowing what they are putting in their mouths?"

Look at the picture by the header: In 1913  corn was 100% farmer owned; In 1913 95% corn is corporation owned of which 90% is Genetically Engineered.

Breaking News: China Destroys 3 US Shipments of GM Corn

Breaking News: China Destroys 3 US Shipments of GM Corn | GMOs | Scoop.it
In a sudden turn of events, three separate incidents of Chinese authorities identifying and destroying illegally imported GM corn from the United States have been reported.
Arun Shrivastava's insight:

Quotes:

"Are these latest incidents a sign that the Chinese government is beginning to take more seriously the health threats associated with the consumption of genetically modified food? According to the GMWatch.org report's primary informant, who for purposes of anonymity goes by the pseudonym "Mr. Li":

"[T]he new government's decisive move to destroy the illegal GMOs "progressive, encouraging, and satisfying". He regards it as a sign that it is keeping its promise to work for the people and the nation.
Mr Li said: "The deeply pro-GMO old government would not have made such a thing public. It would have secretly returned the shipments, or in most cases it would not even have inspected shipments that could contain GM ingredients."

The Chinese Government has reviewed its safety testing procedures and most likely they will ban all GM grains, and seeds originating from the USA because of their lax and irresponsible safety testing. Recall that about six or seven years ago, a consignment of rice was also seized in Rotterdam and destroyed. Russia has consistently opposed import of any GM food or seed.

China's decision to destroy US shipment of GM corn will bolster the global anti-GMO movement.
