Zars Media's insight:

"I did a degree in financial Maths & economics with an enthusiastic view to becoming an actuary. I joined the Business Society in
college and a chance meeting with a guest speaker diverted me down the route of stock market training. In September 2010, as
Ireland was gripped by a fierce recession, I decided that to make the leap into entrepreneurship." Susan Hayes

Adventures of Ande Lyons Chief Passion Curator and Founder Bring Back Desire LLC

Zars Media's insight:

My road to becoming an entrepreneur was not traditional. I had three years of undergrad schooling, but I never quite got around to finishing my degree. After jumping through a few hoops, I was admitted to the Simmons School of Management in Boston, the only business school in the world designed specifically for women. They recognize that women sometimes face circumstances, like raising kids, that make getting an education challenging. I was accepted at the age of 30 and it was life transforming. It gave me the confidence and ability to pursue my dreams.

"Women are leaders everywhere you look, from a CEO to a house wife that holds together a home. Our country was built by women who stand alone" Denise Clark
Zars Media's insight:

"I turned 40 a few years ago, and began to reflect on a number of issues – one of which was my career and how I could give back to society and the continent at large through my career and life-time professional experiences.  One of the areas that I have given back commonly has been in the area of mentoring and coaching – mentoring and coaching female entrepreneurs in the SME/small and growing business sector.  When I turned 40, I thought I would formalise this through a movement I have termed Alldens Lane"  Ruka Sanusi

Zars Media's curator insight, September 15, 2013 7:21 PM

"I know from my own life that this can be a painful issue, so I wanted to inspire, not blame women, and to give them practical tools and tips to help them on their journey forward. You see, I was a teen mom, married my high school sweetheart and had three children by just after my 20th birthday. Climbing out of that situation where I had no education or employable skills took some doing. So I got started in the workplace later than most young women today and I had to compensate for that by working hard and taking on lots of responsibility." Gloria Feldt

I knew that I was going to enjoy reading Karin’s “adventure” just by her title……Chief Provocateur”….and her story, whilst in many aspect very sad, didn’t disappoint because from initial adversity came strength and courage….in bucket loads! A very uplifting inspiring read.

Adventures of Cecilia Zalazar Chief Creative Director

Zars Media's insight:

"I was lucky to be young mother and work all the way. My daughter always kept me grounded on what’s important, a supportive husband has kept me stable and supported me throughout. I have always had a home to come back and recharge. I have suffered stress and politics and deception as any other natural leader, but I have seen success, growth and rewards. So life balances up when you have a strong core in your personal life and when you have the vision to see what is next, a purpose, if not nothing makes sense. Always look for a goal, for a dream, for a passion and they will give you the strength to continue." Cecilia Zalazar

Adventures of Dr. Sandra Casey Buford Director of Strategic Research/Diversity, Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport 2013 Winner of the COMTO National James G. Neusom Founders Award

Zars Media's insight:

"When I reflect on my entire life I am stunned at how fast it has sped by, and I am amazed at how much I have been able to accomplish, including being a wife and mother of four talented, high responsible human beings.  . I am humbled by the incredible number of brilliant, talented people that I’ve had the privilege to read about, work with, become acquainted with, and befriend.  Most importantly, I am in awe of the amount of knowledge that exists in the universe, both known and not yet discovered.  I am resolved to never stop learning, and my ultimate goal is to continue to improve myself, to help others, and to stay engaged in meaningful work……forever" Dr Sandra Buford

Adventures of Alicia Vanderschuer Founder & CEO of rosieMADE

Zars Media's insight:

"My daughter was born, we were 2500 miles from our nearest family members, and some major shifts were happening with my employer. I had also recently gained my first exposure to male-dominated hierarchies, there was a lack of female mentors or sponsors, and I witnessed my first gender-discrimination. It started me thinking about an alternative—what about a system that is made by women for women?" Alicia Vanderschuer

Zars Media's insight:

"I have been an individual with many interests.  The truth was not the fact that I could not focus on one thing, but I saw much excitement and fulfillment in life.  I have always been passionate and I have always followed my heart.  I always enjoyed thriving instead of just surviving" Smiljana Orlic.
