"Increase your strength. Climbing is both strength and technique dependent. If you do not have a minimum level of strength already, or you are not maintaining the strength that you do have, it may be important to do strengthening exercises" "Take the steady road to increasing your climbing skills. If you go for the hard climbs before you’re ready, there’s a higher chance of injury, for example, straining a shoulder muscle or even popping finger tendons"
"Orpierre is one of France’s best known and most popular climbing areas and has attracted large numbers of climbers form all over Europe for the past 20 years. Situated in the foothills of the Southern Alps, the town benefits from a strange mix of Alpine and Mediterranean influences, both climatic and cultural."
A bit mad, and too bad it only takes into account US towns, but I really like the concept ! Which we could do it for Europe... I may try one day ! "Consider yourself lucky if you live in one of these towns - Thinking of pulling up roots and heading to a town that’s blessed with a vast amount of rock? "

A short overview of the high quality rock climbing existing in the South of France. Philippe Gatta is a very good climber and this condensed guide is therefore aiming at really good climbers. However, it is still interesting to see what's out there and you can find more accessible climbs in these regions on Climbapedia. You find out that rock climbing is possible all year round in France on beautiful sites. "In a debate between the environment and the economy, the environment seems always doomed to lose. Why? Because it is assumed that the environment cannot solve pressing social challenges such as employment and poverty alleviation. But what if it can? In one small country in Central America, the environment has triumphed – not at the expense of the economy – but to its infinite benefit, and that of the 4 million people living there."
This is exactly the kind of partners we (Climbapedia) are looking for ! "Perfect weather, miles of sun-drenched quartzite, stunning scenery and an enchanting Arabic culture combine to create one of the world's most exciting trad-climbing destinations."

Le Monde.fr - A la découverte de l'escalade en salle, idéale pour les débutants et pour les angoissés de l'altitude.
Well done to Colette, that I do not know, but I love the photos and the storytelling is very very nice. Thanks Colette. I'll come back for more. "Needless to say this event was a spectacle before even considering its location. Over 50 Petzl Athletes and 500 added international climbers from all over the world met together to climb, chill and party in Getu. There are people I’ve met on Rock Trips, that I would never see otherwise and usually never see again until the next year’s event. But often you meet a new person, swap plans, trade beta and touch base along the way on your next climbing trip. It’s really a very cool thing, and something Petzl has nailed in terms of celebrating what it means to be a climber and traveler. They bring this feeling to a new community in each event, and later display the experience for the entire world through video, photos and blogs. Bravo!"

Use your free time wisely ! "Health and Fitness Travel provides active wellness holidays world-wide, and has new healthy breaks for people who are time pressured, burnt-out and in need a quick healthy getaway to recover. Paul Joseph of Health and Fitness Travel says “Preventive health care is the one thing that we can take control of. We should make it our own responsibility to take care of our health, and this is very important especially in times of anxiety and stress where people suffer from lack of sleep and poor diet. We are growing in self-awareness and becoming more conscious of the very limited time we have to look after ourselves. The British are more stressed than most other countries; demanding workloads and longer commutes are eating away at our free time, leaving us feeling unhealthy and in need of a holiday to improve our health and well-being. The average person puts on 4 pounds of weight after every inactive holiday and more of us are now choosing to swap fly and flop breaks for more healthy ones to promote a healthier lifestyle.”
'On Assignment' Follows Photographer to Breathtaking Heights in Yosemite August 19, 2011 | Filmmaker Renan Ozturk follows photographer Jimmy Chin on an assignment for National Geographic to document a climbing expedition in Yosemite. The jaw-dropping cliffs don't seem to phase either of them, as they dangle from ropes impossibly high up to get just the right shot. Make sure to watch this full screen to appreciate the spectacular landscapes, not to mention the vertigo. Ozturk talks about how he got into filmmaking in an interview with The Atlantic.
