Vincent Mastro writes: "Critical thinking is the means by which we objectively analyze the pros and cons of a situation in order to make informed decisions. It is a fundamental skill that is of such importance that many colleges and universities require their freshman students to complete an introductory course. The Common Core Standards also recognize the value of critical thinking, declaring it as one of the explicit skills children are to learn."

Dave Webb's curator insight, May 31, 2013 2:38 PM

My 16 year old started playing around with standard educational computer games when he was two. I recently got him hooked up with an online course on web developement: https://www.udemy.com/how-to-become-a-web-developer-from-scratch/. My guess is, that if he would've had access to some of the apps in this article, much of what he's learning now would be second nature to him. I'm really liking the idea of introducing coding to my younger kids just for the design and problem solving skills they'll learn, and there are some great resources here to help make that happen.
