Dan Hopkins, a RSF grantee, discusses how accents and skin tone affect attitudes to immigrants in America.
Loredana Carson's insight:

This would be of great interest to teacers who teach English to immigrants.

The experiment indicated that accented English is viewed as a signal that the immigrant wants to assimilate and the accent is viewed positively.

I have never seen this indicated before and it is very new research that would be worth furthering.

International educators discuss emerging countries for international student recruitment | Inside Higher Ed | Adult Education in Transition | Scoop.it
Loredana Carson's insight:

The best outcome for International students is a broad mix of countries to be represented in any one program. When one country dominates it is too easy for the International students to congregate amongst a single language.  Integration into American life is crucial for success in making the most of the international experience.

Intensity and Attachment: How the Chaotic Enrollment Patterns of Community College Students Affect Educational Outcomes

CCRC conducts research on community colleges and contributes to the development of practice and policy to promote success for all higher education students.
Loredana Carson's insight:

From what I have observed this is one of the big differences between the typical community college student and those who are there specifically to transfer to a four-year college. The community colleges need to help these people find a goal. It is easier said than done.
