No this isn't just another word cloud tool like Wordle, there's much more to it than a word cloud generator.
Users just paste their text into Analyze My Writing and it will generate a large amount of information about your writing.
Analyze My Writing will...
   - give users a break-down of the readability of their writing on five indices;
   - include listings of the most common words and most common word pairs in their writing; and
   - provide a listing of how frequently they use punctuation and punctuation types.
Oh yes, and finally, a word cloud is included at the end of the analysis of their writing.
Analyze My Writing could be a great resource for learners to use when editing their assignments.

Beyond the readability of the their papers learners will receive important information about the words and phrases they have used repetitively in their writings.

Well worth looking at, and/or trying out.

John Dalziel's curator insight, July 24, 2013 3:14 PM

Oxford Owl is a collection of free children’s ebooks for learners ages 3-11. Each ebook has accompanying audio so that learners can choose to read along, or read independently. The books also have activities focusing on reading comprehension and story recall. There are several options for filtering the ebooks including by...
- age,
- book type, and
- by series.
As well as the eBooks visitors will find...
- activities and recommendations for each age group,
- games to print and play, and
- online games with characters from the books and site.
NOTE: Oxford Owl is flash-based. Not ideal at all for a learning environment full of iPads. Luckily, there are solutions. There are several Flash Browsers that you can download for the iPad to view flash content. My current preference is Photon.
