Ciudades a escala humana: Urbanismo adaptativo. Usos temporales y transitorios en edificios industriales

Ciudades a escala humana: Urbanismo adaptativo. Usos temporales y transitorios en edificios industriales | Adaptive Cities | Scoop.it

Ciudades a escala humana: Week picks #6 | Adaptive Cities | Scoop.it

It will help me to track new findings from community groups, startups or local governments working and delivering solutions relevant to the issues of this blog. I often bookmark them or save them on Tumblr while I wait to use them. Maybe this a good way.

Ciudades a escala humana: Location matters. Startups leaving the suburbs and locating in city centres

Ciudades a escala humana: Location matters. Startups leaving the suburbs and locating in city centres | Adaptive Cities | Scoop.it

Some recent moves point to a new path in preference for start-up location working towards a trend that probably will not turn into mainstream for any industry. However, it is starting to make sense for some of them. Pinterest left Silicon Valley to relocate their offices in downtown San Francisco, following other tech companies such as Twitter, Pulse or Zynga that are doing the same and locating their premises in the city centre instead of Palo Alto, Cupertino, San Jose and surrounding areas.

Ciudades a escala humana: EQUIciuDAD 2012. Qué hacemos mientras tanto. Por un urbanismo adaptativo

Manu Fernandez's insight:

Jane Jacobs’ organized complexity, and why we keep failing to deal with it well. | Wise Economy

Jane Jacobs’ organized complexity, and why we keep failing to deal with it well. | Wise Economy | Adaptive Cities | Scoop.it

[Jacobs] was not, let me assert, a blind theoretician or ideologue, but a good empiricist, using theory as a helpful tool along the way.   This may be part of the problem. After all, the professions of planning and architecture, to which I myself belong, do not have a particularly good history when it comes to escaping ideological or ex cathedra thinking. We don’t seem particularly good at learning from the evidence of our mistakes – even when they are explained to us in painfully lucid detail….

Reclaim - Remediate Reuse Recycle

Reclaim - Remediate Reuse Recycle | Adaptive Cities | Scoop.it

Reclaim - Remediate Reuse Recycle interprets and compares actions extracted from the projects and classifies them into three Re- processes:

Remediate: acting on the territory

Reuse: acting on the building

Recycle: acting on the material

With this start to the Reclaim series, a+t interprets the works analysed and organizes its discourse on the basis of Re- actions, using these actions to create a body of knowledge applicable to any project.

Reclaim has the environmental sense to reclaim the territory, the objects, the infrastructures and the materials yet it is also a call to reclaim dignity and citizen rights. It is a wake-up call to morally reclaim society using theRe- processes as atonement.
