In early 2013, the Kalamazoo, Michigan-based band Greensky Bluegrass took over the tiny, 100-capacity venue Tonic Room in Chicago’s Lincoln Park for a secret, one-night-only concert celebrating the venue’s 10th anniversary.
Last year Raleigh, N.C.welcomed the International Bluegrass Music Association to its downtown area, drawing bluegrass artists and fans to North Carolina’s capital city -- including locals Chatham County Line, who were inspired by the festival to dedicate...a new song called “Living in Raleigh Now.”

NASHVILLE, TN, – Nominees for the 2014 International Bluegrass Music Awards were announced today at a press conference in Nashville, Tennessee, with The Boxcars leading the pack with ten nominations for the band and their individual members. The performers and presenters for the upcoming International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)’s 25th International Bluegrass Music Awards have been announced, and the evening promises to be one of the most star-studded events of the year.
Kicking off the FreshGrass festivities on Friday, September 19, will be an extra-special collaboration between two all-time favorite bluegrass artists, flatpicker Michael Daves and banjoist Tony Trischka.
