There are four main types of accounting: public, government, management, and auditing. Public accounting (aspect 1) is the most expansive range of accounting that there is. There are so many different things that you can do if you plan on going into pubic accounting. You can work for individuals, firms, corporations, or government organizations. Another type of accounting (in aspect 1) is management accounting, where you get information to companies for internal use while helping them with their planing and budgeting.

WHAT IS ACCOUNTING?- An accountant is in charge of credit, payroll, taxes, assets, receivables, payables, and public transactions. "When the day to day transactions are recorded this is called basic book keeping" They must always keep these transactions balanced (the transactions are recorded at debts and credits). This information shows companies if they are successful and allows them to compare them to recent years.

Computers have made accountants life simple because it makes work easier for the company to keep track of, all you have to do is press a button and you will receive all the information. How to determine if the company is successful is to look at their "statement of profit loss, balance sheets, assets and liabilities report, and retained equity." These numbers show the company what they are doing good at and what they have to change. Even though these numbers are good for the company they are also good for the people who want to invest in their company because they can see if they are stable.

Your mobile devices such as phones, ipads, and tablets are vital to you if you become a CPA. The reasoning is because you can connect to a browser which can connect you to your applications, spreadsheets, ect. When using these tools it helps CPA`s with their data but it also benefits the client. While using the BYOD it also comes with strict roles you have to follow to make sure that you are using it the right way. The applications that you are using have private information from your clients and you have to make sure that everything is secure.

CPA SKILLS: You have to have a strong leadership on accounting just like you have to with many other things in life. You also have to have good communication skills because you have to work with different people so "people skills"come in handy. You also have to be tech savvy because for accounting you use many different applications on the computer. Lastly you have to like business and have an interest in it because you have to deal with business people on a day to day basis and you will have to gain respect within the business world.

A big thing to do after you graduate college is to take the CPA exam. If you pass the CPA exam and have that certification you will have a 10%-15% higher pay then people who do not. Another good thing to do is to understand all of your states requirements.

What does it take to become a CPA? "All CPAs are accountants, but now all accountants are CPA`s" Must need 150 hours in a semester and at least 150 hours of accounting. You must scare a 75 to pass, mostly multiple choice and open ended. No matter what state you take it in, the CPA will always be the same test. On the test there are four different sections: "Auditing and attestation, business environment and concepts, financial accounting and reporting, and Regulation."

To be an accountant you have to have certain qualities to be successful. One important quality you need is to be flexible, because you have so many different jobs going on (especially during tax season) that you may need to extend your work hours. This is a video that has a picture that explains accounting well. It shows an Internal, external, and government accountant.
