Learning has no borders when it comes to technology. Today, students and teachers can connect for learning 24/7. They no longer need to be in the same physical space. However, connecting face-to-face in realtime is very important to the learning process. Teaching in a Live Online Class can be very rewarding for the teacher and student.

There are many benefits to the face-to-face real time online learning environment that require our attention. Teaching in a asynchronous non-time dependent learning platform is not enough for today’s student. Students need immediate gratifications.

 

Students need to have the opportunity to be with the instructor in real time, so they can get immediate response to their questions and not have to wait. They need to see the teacher in action. What is your opinion.

 

Please fill in the form if you're interested in writing a chapter or chapters and collaborating on a book on teaching with technology and sharing your experiences. The first chapter/s draft is due on December 31, 2013.

Participants will work on each of the 5 chapters and the references, table of contents and appendices. First draft will be ready for submission by the end of the course.

 

This is a 12-week hands-on workshop on writing the first draft of your doctoral dissertation. Participants will work on each of the 5 chapters and the references, table of contents and appendices. The chapters will be reviewed by Dr. Nellie Deutsch. The participants will receive comments within 1 week after completing the chapter so that the first draft will be ready for submission by the end of the course. The cost for the 12-week workshop is $20 a week plus 5% for PayPal charges. The total tuition is $252.

I'd like you to think of the Moodle MOOC on WizIQ: http://www.wiziq.com/course/20705-teaching-with-moodle as an event that is taking place in a city or town, at a hotel, campus, in a building, in a neighborhood, or at a park/camping area. You may share images of how you visualize the Moodle MOOC.

You don't have to drive or walk from room to room, building to building or house to house. All you need to do is click, touch, push a button, use the keyboard, or give your computer or mobile device a voice or gesture command (if you have these). However, you will need to have access to the Internet and to a device to get you to the learning environments.

In week 1, you will be getting acquainted with each other, the layout of the course, and learning about your personal and professional needs as a learner and teacher. 

There are 3 main learning environments on the MOOC:

WizIQ with the courseware for the live online sessions and recordings, for the content (tutorials) and coursefeed for ongoing discussions during and after the MOOC). Google Drive (interactive syllabus is also available on WizIQ)
Moodle experience is available on http://moodle4teachers.org/ with 3 separate Moodle experience courses and conversations (see below) organized for each of the weeks (topics of Moodle MOOC)

IMHO, we are ruled by emotions. Our thoughts and most of our behavior is determined by how we feel. Learning about our feelings is the first step to understanding others.

Our lives can improve by tapping into our feelings. Mindfulness meditation is one way of learning to observe our emotions. We can make a difference in people’s lives by becoming more mature emotionally and developing a relationship-based attitude to your family, work, business, learning, and fun places. Our level of stress will decrease as a result of the “You Matter” attitude we show others.

 

Relationships are determined by our emotions. Relating to people with a you matter attitude in our homes, workplaces, school, and in public places is key to our well being and theirs.
People will enjoy your company if you provide them with a caring attitude.

 

People’s choice of a product or service is determined by the “You Matter” attitude they get. Once a product, services, school, or organization becomes habitual, it’s very hard to let go and use another even if it’s better. If you want to market a course/school, product, or services, you need to get people hooked to the experience of using the product, service and so on by making them feel good about themselves and the experience they get. Everyone needs to feel wanted and more importantly, significant. It’s a win-win situation when people feel that they matter. The product loses its meaning when people feel good. However, the experience you provide has to be authentic.
