It’s expert interview with Kelly Hungerford, Community Manager at Paper.li aboutPaper.li, Twitter & Content Curation.
Paper.li is an online curation platform and service that enables anyone to create online newspapers around topics of interest.
Q: What are the main benefits for small business owners and solopreneurs in using this publishing tool?
A: Paper.li is a fantastic tool for attracting and engaging, starting conversations. There are a lot of promotional tools like the promo tweet that goes out. We have widgets that can be embedded in websites. We have an email digest and it’s free.
It’s a freemium service and the base service is free and then small business owners can upgrade to $9 a month to control their own ad space for instance and use their own ads to drive more business to their website.
Q: What are your favorite ways of using Twitter with having the small business owner in mind?
A: I think my favorite two ways and my favorite two tips for business users are these. The first is tweet chats and there are so many people that I speak to who aren’t active on tweet chats and the tweet chats are a really powerful way for small business owners to connect and engage with other like-minded professionals and share information, learn what’s going on.
And my second is the advanced search options on Twitter. Twitter offers this truly simple yet powerful search option that really enables small business owners to target prospective clients by location and I find that a lot of people just don’t use the advanced search on Twitter.
Q: There’s too much noise on Twitter. How do I get myself through if there’s so much noise? What are some good ways to use Twitter in an effective way to find your way through all the noise?
A: I use tools such as HootSuite and I create a lot of keyword searches.... I’ve started looking into Social Sprout. It’s pretty nice and Buffer just came out with some amazing enhancements in analytics.
