Currently published twice a year, in Inuktitut syllabics, roman orthography, English, and French, 15,000 copies of Inuktitut Magazine are distributed across the circumpolar Arctic, to parliamentarians in Ottawa, and around the globe.

This time last year the Inuit in Iqaluit, the capital of Nunavut territory, were battling the Arctic equivalent of a heat wave: Temperatures hovering around freezing were making roads slushy and icy, obliterating the blizzard conditions that they are used to driving in. That caused a bit of mayhem on the roads.

En mars 2012, Whitehorse accueillera les Jeux d'hiver de l'Arctique.

 

Les Jeux d'hiver de l'Arctique sont les plus importants jeux multisports et culturels nordiques au monde. Les Jeux comprennent la participation de l'Alaska, du Yukon, des Territoires du Nord-Ouest, du nord de l'Alberta, du Nunavut, du Nunavik (Québec), du Groenland, du Yamal (Russie) et de la Scandinavie.

 

Les Jeux d'hiver de l'Arctique sont une célébration d'épreuves sportives, de culture, d'amitiés et de coopération entre les délégations nordiques. Les épreuves sportives comprennent des sports qui sont très connus mondialement en compagnie des sports traditionnels arctiques et des jeux dénés. Un des piliers des Jeux est l'importante composante culturelle, qui comprend notamment des arts visuels, de la danse, des cérémonies et des galas avec des participants de toute la région circumpolaire.
