Zero-Day World

 

Zero-day (zero-hour or day zero) vulnerabilities are previously unknown vulnerabilities that have not been revealed publicly but are exploited by attackers. Discovering and exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities helps cyber criminals to increase the success rate of attacks. Attacks using zero-day exploits are tough to identify and analyze because in many cases information is not available until attacks have already occurred. There is practically no protection against zero-day attacks as details of the vulnerability is usually a mystery when these attacks are first observed.

This is the question I was asked the other day, “can teachers ever be replaced by technology?” It is not a new question, I can recall the same question being asked back in the 1980s but that was at a time when computing technology was still new in schools. In the 1980s, we weren’t too sure how technology would develop, so our answers to the question were sometimes based on ignorance, fantasy and some trepidation. Essentially, the answer back then was ‘no’, technology would not take over from the teacher.

La idea de este ensayo es enfa­ti­zar en la impor­tan­cia de la edu­ca­ción on-line, –e-learning, o a dis­tan­cia como se le debe­ría deno­mi­nar en cas­te­llano. Cuando se comenzó a usar este nove­doso medio edu­ca­cio­nal, basado fun­da­men­tal­mente en el cons­truc­ti­vismo y en el sis­tema conec­ti­vista, fue ata­cado como impro­pio, como un sis­tema poco serio y que poco fal­taba para que tanto alum­nos como pro­fe­so­res mar­ca­ran una gran dis­tan­cia entre ellos, pues no se garan­ti­zaba el conec­ti­vismo y la inter­re­la­ción. Hoy, está más que pro­bado que si existe conec­ti­vi­dad, inter­re­la­ción, entre alumno-profesor-profesor-alumno-alumno-alumno...  (Mario H. Concha Vergara).
