P.S.: In my humble opinion, this list is tainted by the author placing the magazine he writes for (Forbes in this case) as the top one in the list. As a curator this is something I suggest to avoid like the pest as it instantly taints your supposedly impartial collector skills with a way too evident marketing effort, which dents significantly into the credibility of the overall list and the on the reputation of the writer.
In my effort to help others recognize effective curation from simple-minded content marketing efforts I feel quite important to highlight such small details, as even though they may appear of no relevance to some people today, they will have enormous importance - in my opinion - in the near future.

By Mike Krumboltz Seven-year-old Luka Apps spent his Christmas money on the LEGO Ninjago Ultra Sonic Raider set. A sound investment, if you ask us. But the thing about LEGOs -- those small pieces are easy to lose.
OK...it's a bit of fluff that should put a smile on your face. But aside from that, I see how the value of writing letters and communicating is highlighted by this article. Hang in there all the Language Arts teachers, the need for writing hasn't diminished one little bit!

I also like what Kevin Murray, chairman of PR agency the Good Relations Group, says: “I use stories to entertain people at dinner parties to amuse. But in business you need to tell stories that make a difference.” Good point!

An analytics firm has uncovered a network of more than 200 sites that appears aimed at defrauding the online ad industry. The network tricks marketers into serving billions of “targeted” ads to bots every month.
The findings were announced on Tuesday by Spider.io, a firm that specializes in detecting abnormal internet traffic. Spider says it has identified at least 202 websites where the vast majority of visitors are bots rather than normal human visitors, and that that every major brand engaged in automated ad buying has been paying to shows ads to the bots; a visit to one of the affected sites Tuesday morning showed ads from brands like Crest and Bank of America.
Bot networks, which are a collection of virus-infected computers controlled from afar, are not new and have long been used by hackers for malicious activities like password theft or espionage. In this case, however, Spider says this is the first time a bot network has been deployed specifically to target display ads for which unwitting companies have paid.
"From annoying pop-up ads to often completely irrelevant video pre-rolls, the clutter is causing consumers’ “BS meters,” as digital rock star Gary Vaynerchuk has called them, to become more sensitive and accurate than ever before."

Ken Jondahl's review below says it all. Whenver I see a cluttered website I know people are lacking storytelling skills. Novice storytellers always add too much detail.
So if your website is too cluttered, it can't tell a great story. So polish your storytelling skills and upgrade your website. It's essential to gain business growth.

Amanda Bell, grammar school principle looks at content curation today and feels barrier to entry is nonexistent and may be hampering our ability to find information that has any depth and may not be accurate. She worries that this will not be good especially for young people who are just starting out beginning to learn about the world.
I say, curation is a news delivery system for those who have already found their trusted sources and a research tool for those who have not. We're at the beginning stages on content curation, cream always rises to the top. I am definitely of the opinion that those who are driven to learn and understand something will delve deeper to find the truth no matter what.

In an article posted by Popova about Eli Pariser's new book, The Filter Bubble: Algorithm vs Curator & the Value of Serendipity, she asks whether it is a good thing that the web filters content for us.
It can be argued that old media (newspapers, radio, television) have always been selective and in more recent times their reach has spread beyond a single city or country. In fact, there has been global sanitising of the media networks' news headlines owing to the immediacy of access to information (including each other's information) thanks to effective and fast new communication technologies.
The question here, however, is whether the role of curator is any more sophisticated in these online contexts than the old media position of editor.
