Le streaming par le biais de plates-formes comme Deezer ou Spotify, à qui l'industrie de la musique attribue sa renaissance, est peut-être entaché de distorsions au profit de certains artistes. Le Syndicat national de l'édition phonographique (SNEP), qui regroupe les principaux acteurs de la filière en France - dont les majors comme Universal, Sony et Warner -, a en effet « détecté des anomalies » : « certains artistes de Rap Hip Hop cumulent des scores d'écoutes démesurés sur les plates-formes de streaming audio », explique un document interne au SNEP daté du 24 novembre.
