Campus Connection: Mike Kent, president of MATC's part-time teachers union, continues to push for a member-owned, nonprofit corporation that would provide adjuct faculty staffing and support services for the college.

 

With the [last] contract still not ratified, Gov. Scott Walker introduced his budget repair bill last February that all but destroyed public-sector unions in the state... the part-time union decided to vote to ratify ... [b]ut the MATC District Board refused to sign off on the deal.

Shortly thereafter, Kent and other members of the part-time teachers union leadership started putting together their proposal to provide MATC with adjunct faculty staffing services.

As it stands now, the MATC Part-time Teachers' Union will likely vanish after its current contract with the school expires at the end of June.
