More people are running to charity tube to post free videos and watch free videos than posting on you tube. Try posting at charity tube and you will never leave. http://www.africatube.net/ More visitors and more video views. Don't take our word for it, try it. Post one same video on youtube and put it on  http://www.africatube.net/ and return ater five hours and compare the viewers rate and decide for yourself. Create your very own group or forum and control who watch it and invite everyone to watch the video. Above all, post video in English or in any language and viewers can watch video description in their own language. Try it and let us know your experience. Above all it is absolutely free like youtube

Lauren Jackson's curator insight, February 19, 2014 3:50 PM

Another article that provides explicitly the essentials for Project Based Learning. The Buck Institute focuses on PBL to produce 21st Century Skills. Incorporating technology is fundamental in PBL. What worries me, as a future educator, is the unknown. I want to fully prepare my students with the skills they need, but we are preparing them for an unknown future. For example, in elementary school my computer class focused on "words typed per minute." But now students need to know much more than that when it comes to technology. How can we prepare globally competent students when we don't know what the global sphere will look like in 2020 and beyond?

Robin Kinney's curator insight, February 19, 2014 5:12 PM

This picture truly says 1000 words, which is why I like it.  While reading an article, this one or another, is necessary to understanding what PBL is, this graphic is an excellent at-a-glance reminder.  I'd actually like to take this image, transform it into a trumpet flower, then slide the graphic into the front of my planning binder to act as a beautiful reminder of what I should imbed into my lessons.

Harry Greenhouse's curator insight, February 20, 2014 9:57 PM

This article by BIE shows the basics to project based learning. The article shows the major important factors that make project based learning possible and how to do them. Like we covered in class, PBL's need to be significant and relate-able so they are interesting as well as have a driving question that works as the thesis statement for the project.

For me the most important is moral and emotional intelligence, than cognitive and other that HG did discover.

Rhiannon Boyd's curator insight, November 18, 2013 8:33 PM

From the article:

"On the basis of research in several disciplines, including the study of how human capacities are represented in the brain, I developed the idea that each of us has a number of relatively independent mental faculties, which can be termed our “multiple intelligences.” The basic idea is simplicity itself. A belief in a single intelligence assumes that we have one central, all-purpose computer—and it determines how well we perform in every sector of life. In contrast, a belief in multiple intelligences assumes that we have a number of relatively autonomous computers—one that computes linguistic information, another spatial information, another musical information, another information about other people, and so on." - HG

36 Core Teacher Apps For Inquiry Learning With iPads - TeachThought | A Educação Hipermidia | Scoop.it

"The interest in inquiry-based learning seems to ebb and flow based on–well, it’s not clear why it ever ebbs.

In short, it is a student-centered, Constructivist approach to learning that requires critical thinking, and benefits from technology, collaboration, resourcefulness, and other modern learning skills that never seem to fall out of favor themselves.

Regardless, St Oliver Plunkett Primary School has put together two very useful images that can help you populate your iPad–or classroom of iPads–with apps that support both inquiry-based learning (the second image below), and a more general approach to pedagogy based on Apple’s uber-popular tablet (the top image)."

"

BYOD (and its initialistic cousin, BYOT), 1:1, and other trends are symbolic of (at least) three things:

1. Schools, teachers, and students want technology in the classroom

2. Technology is expensive

3. Schools are looking for solutions

The following excellent graphic from byodsandpit.weebly.com offers a plan to begin guiding your school towards a BYOD policy or plan that works for you. In that way, it is better than copy/pasting another school or district’s policy, making sure whatever you come up with is, at worst, personalized for your application."

iPad deployment includes all of the steps between buying an iPad and beginning to use the device. For an individual’s personal iPad, this is often a very fast and easy process lasting no longer than five minutes: You just open the box, turn it on, download the apps you want on your device, and go. But for a school, or district, with potentially hundreds of iPads–each one requiring a specialized list of apps that need to be purchased before protecting the devices with a case and sending them out to classrooms. Scientists say our ability to focus is being undermined by bursts of information from e-mail and other interruptions.

Via Ana Cristina Pratas

Susan Taylor's curator insight, October 14, 2013 8:55 PM

A few years ago, Kord Campbell missed the email of his life -- for 12 days.  How did this happen?  Through an electronic flood of email, IM, chats and web browers, it simply slipped through the cracks.

Campbell managed to save his million dollar deal, "yet continues to struggle with the effects of the deluge of data. Even after he unplugs, he craves the stimulation he gets from his electronic gadgets. He forgets things like dinner plans, and he has trouble focusing on his family."

This is our brain in the Digital Age.

Generally, our ability to focus is being undermined by never-ending bits of information coming at us 24/7.  Information overload, multitasking, interruptions and constant distraction hampers work and family life.

"Nonstop interactivity is  one of the most significant shifts ever in the human environment."  The bottom line?  Technology is rewiring our brains, exposing us "to an environment that asks our brains to do things we weren’t necessarily evolved to do.  We know already there are consequences.”

We are at a moment of dramatic change.

The greatest threat?  "Heavy technology use diminishes empathy by limiting how much people engage with one another -- even in the same room.  That empathy is essential to the human condition."

In an age that supposedly keeps us more connected, we are in fact becoming more fragmented. The human condition -- the unique features of being human -- is becoming more fragile.
