Great comparison. Liked finding out more info on Schoology.
I have always been a big supporter for Schoology as a LMS.
I like the feature of being able to grade the discussions. I love Edmodo, however, Schoology looks like a great solution for secondary classes and their workflow.
iDesktop.tv provides a really useful and user friendly service for anyone who wants to use video clips from sources like YouTube, but doesn't want their students looking around at anything unsuitable, or for anyone who has ever found a really useful clip, only to go back later and find it has moved or been removed.
The future of learning requires us to have the tools and the skills of connectivity and collaboration whereby we maintain streaming sources of very relevant and rapidly processable information. This appears to be one of these tools...
A great way to download videos from youtube... have a try with some of our training videos! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRqKz70lAgo

Robin Good: Curatr, an elearning platform built upon the idea of discovery through the curation and sense-making of existing information, has just released an updated version of its platform which you can check out here: http://www.curatr.co.uk/index2.php ;
Live demo: http://www.curatr.co.uk/index2.php?view=demo
Curatr allows professional trainers, experts, and teachers, as much as students to organize and curate information for the purpose of learning.
What I like very much is the Curatr promotional video, which says lots of true things about education and about the way we should carry it out in the future. The next-button-robot approach to information memorization needs to be replaced with a new approach: learning to understand how learners construct knowledge.
Curatr is about the construction of the scaffolding that allows people to learn and to find the resources that should help them best learn what they are interested into.
Promising. Insightful. 8/10

There's a big difference between using projects in the classroom versus project-based learning in the classroom. What are those differences, you ask?
Recently, I have been asked quite few times about IWBs and which ones are best etc. My usual answer is 'none' and then I have to explain, so I thought, instead of explaining I would write this post so that I could point people towards each time they ask.

Are you using Vine yet?
Wonder how you might use these in a 48 Hr Film Project context?

Winston Rowntree: "What the hell can games do that books and interpretive dance can't? A lot, it turns out."
Gaming is a great way to experience a story in a variety of ways, often choosing the story you would like to experience based on a set of given boundaries. Kind of like a choose your own adventure book, but typically with better graphics. that is not to say, however, that gaming replaces books, performance art, theatre, etc. Convergence isn't replacement.
Step Outside the Narrative, true.

A precise analysis about how competences are useful for employers. This paper leads to a better recognition of informal and non formal competences for better efficiency in business ! This is true for green jobs, and also for other activity fields such as internet jobs ! Thanks Mercedes !
Technology allows students to become more independent in the classroom. But is the change from teacher to facilitator a positive move for the profession? Mike Britland is firmly in favour
Goede tips van Mike.
Technology, when used correctly, offers a lot of opportunity on a grand-scale.
Whether you’re a Haiku Deck master or you’re just checking it out, I hope you’re getting the picture that we have a point of view about presentations. Does the world need more lame clip art and bullet points? We say no. Does it need more inspiration, more simplicity and beauty? That’s why we’re here...
Love looking at new presentation tools - love Haiku - good for students too!
a good and novel point of view
We’ve certainly come a long way but some things seem hauntingly similar to many years ago. For example, Thomas Edison said in 1925 that “books will soon be obsolete in schools. Scholars will soon be instructed through the eye.” I’m pretty sure this is exactly what people are saying these days about the iPad.
Watch B.F. Skinner talk about the learning machine.
By Steve Boller
"Lots people want to get started with game based learning, gamification and serious games in their training. We’ve been curating game related content for over a year and a half while conducting our own research and case studies. Here are 100 articles related to games and learning. Some of them are research-based, while others just offer an interesting perspective to spark discussion. Take what you need and share this with a colleague."
I have recently been working with organizations on how the introduction of gamification into their training and development strategy plans for employee skill development. The interesting thing as well is the application of the concepts to both hard and soft skills, that allow for returning to the results in the future as well as updating of skills as the individual progresses.
"The easiest way to integrate iPads in the classroom is to think about changing 1 element of your lesson."
This is great advice for all change - It is often easier to change one thing and then another and another rather than to face a complete transformation.
Master one idea for change - one topic - one inquiry
Excerpt from review article by VentureBeat:"Upload your script, choose some backgrounds, and magically created a professional-looking storyboard of your movie. Or the graphic novel version of your text-based anything.Amazon Studios released Storyteller today to allow writers and filmmakers to quickly, easily — and cheaply — storyboard their scripts.Roy Price, Amazon’s director of Studios said: “Storyteller provides a digital backlot, acting troupe, prop department, and assistant editor — everything you need to bring your story to life.”You start by uploading a script to Amazon Studios — or by playing with one that’s already there. Then simply page through the script paragraph by paragraph. Storyteller will try to match up characters, props, and background with the words in each chunk of text, and it does a surprisingly good job. But if you don’t like what Storyteller gives, you can choose from its library, or even upload your own custom background or characters. Currently, the software has a library of thousands of props, characters, and backgrounds..."Read full review article: http://venturebeat.com/2013/06/07/amazon-launches-storyteller-to-turn-scripts-into-storyboards-automagically/Learn more and try out Storyteller: http://studios.amazon.com/storyteller
