Since its launch a few years ago, Edmodo is being used now by huge number of teachers and schools from all around the globe. Una gran cantidad de profesionales de eLearning, especialmente aquellos que acaban de comenzar con su práctica, a menudo se preguntan acerca de la necesidad de la teoría. ¿Por qué molestarse aprendiendo la teoría del diseño instruccional en absoluto? ¿No es suficiente con la práctica?

 

La práctica y la teoría en realidad van de la mano. Esto aplica no sólo en el diseño instruccional, sino en cualquier otro campo o disciplina. La teoría, lejos de paralizar la práctica, en realidad ayuda a mejorar la calidad del material de sus cursos eLearning. Aunque una teoría de aprendizaje no responderá a todos los problemas de diseño, sí ofrece claridad en todo el proceso y guía hacia la búsqueda de soluciones.

Don has shared a vast number of resources on this post ranging from a diagram showing the changes between the original and updated Blooms to ISD concept maps and instructional design toolkits.  

Here is a quote from Don's post explaining Solo Taxonomy - "...one model that might prove more useful is the Structure of Observed Learning Outcome (SOLO) taxonomy. It is a model that describes levels of increasing complexity in a learner's understanding of subjects (Biggs, Collis, 1982). It aids both trainers and learners in understanding the learning process. I think all these online response systems requiring the use of the students' devices are wonderful. However, is there an impact, perhaps one that might be significant enough, of the use of students' devices in that the device is personal. Do students using an older device relatively to others in the class be sensitive in its use When majority of the classmates have the latest ohone device models. Also when teachers and faculty be comfortable of students while using the devices in the exercise are distracted (actual or presumed or perceived) with other apps during that exercise? 

 

Also when the wireless access point be robust and reliable enough when it experiences a surge/flood of signals when large numbers of simultaneous responses are transmitted in a small time window. 

 

My observation is that teachers do not want to be encumbered with such distractions, uncertainty and confrontation when only partial student responses are recorded due to technical issues. The latter also leads to the technical support of student devices which is unknown (which version of OS), unfamiliar (what other apps or potential of interdependencies) and uncertainty (are you sure they are not checking on their apps while others are still thinking of their responses?)
