Teaching Metacognition: How Students Think Is Key To High Achievement

Teaching Metacognition: How Students Think Is Key To High Achievement | A Educação Hipermidia | Scoop.it

"A few years ago, I came across some interesting research by cognitive psychologist Ronald T. Kellogg. He claimed that the mark of an expert writer is not years of practice or a hefty vocabulary, but rather an awareness of one’s audience. This made sense to me, and I wondered if it were true in other disciplines as well."

A Simple Technique You Can (and Should) Apply To Your eLearning Courses | A Educação Hipermidia | Scoop.it

"It’s easy for an eLearner to “zone out” when faced with complex course content, especially with limited existing knowledge of a topic. The instructional design challenge is how to explain complex content easily. Start by considering some premises fundamental to eLearning design."

As we increasingly move towards designing our own eLearning content - it is essential to consider the delivery of that content - the tools are a means to an end - if the design quality is poor then the usefulness of those tools is greatly diminished.

What Is Education? Insights From The World's Greatest Minds

What Is Education? Insights From The World's Greatest Minds | A Educação Hipermidia | Scoop.it

"As we seek to refine and reform today’s system of education, we would do well to ask, 'What is education?' Our answers may provide insights that get to the heart of what matters for 21st century children and adults alike. It is important to step back from divisive debates on grades, standardized testing, and teacher evaluation—and really look at the meaning of education. So I decided to do just that—to research the answer to this straightforward, yet complex question. Looking for wisdom from some of the greatest philosophers, poets, educators, historians, theologians, politicians, and world leaders, I found answers that should not only exist in our history books, but also remain at the core of current education dialogue. In my work as a developmental psychologist, I constantly struggle to balance the goals of formal education with the goals of raising healthy, happy children who grow to become contributing members of families and society. Along with academic skills, the educational journey from kindergarten through college is a time when young people develop many interconnected abilities." | by Marilyn Price-Mitchell

Why (And How) To Start Teaching Coding In School - Edudemic

Why (And How) To Start Teaching Coding In School - Edudemic | A Educação Hipermidia | Scoop.it

"Fueled by an incredible demand in the workforce for proficient programmers and the need to teach critical thinking skills, the coding movement in schools has exploded. Furthermore, we all communicate through technology, so we should at least know the basic premise of coding because the gadget sitting in our pocket, or on our desk, should not be a mysterious black box to us or our students. Just like writing, multimedia, art, and music are mediums to show ideas, coding can be another form of expression.``

Como comento en el artículo anterior, este verano tuve la feliz idea de hacer parte del Camino de Santiago.
