Learning By Exploring, Organizing and Curating a Body of Information: Curatr

Robin Good: Curatr, an elearning platform built upon the idea of discovery through the curation and sense-making of existing information, has just released an updated version of its platform which you can check out here: http://www.curatr.co.uk/index2.php

Live demo: http://www.curatr.co.uk/index2.php?view=demo

Curatr allows professional trainers, experts, and teachers, as much as students to organize and curate information for the purpose of learning.

What I like very much is the Curatr promotional video, which says lots of true things about education and about the way we should carry it out in the future. The next-button-robot approach to information memorization needs to be replaced with a new approach: learning to understand how learners construct knowledge.

Curatr is about the construction of the scaffolding that allows people to learn and to find the resources that should help them best learn what they are interested into.

Promising. Insightful. 8/10

Recently, I have been asked quite  few times about IWBs and which ones are best etc. My usual answer is 'none' and then I have to explain, so I thought, instead of explaining I would write this post so that I could point people towards each time they ask.

We’ve certainly come a long way but some things seem hauntingly similar to many years ago. For example, Thomas Edison said in 1925 that “books will soon be obsolete in schools. Scholars will soon be instructed through the eye.” I’m pretty sure this is exactly what people are saying these days about the iPad.

Amazon launches Storyteller to turn scripts into storyboards -- automagically

Amazon launches Storyteller to turn scripts into storyboards -- automagically | A Educação Hipermidia | Scoop.it

Excerpt from review article by VentureBeat:
"Upload your script, choose some backgrounds, and magically created a professional-looking storyboard of your movie. Or the graphic novel version of your text-based anything.

Amazon Studios released Storyteller today to allow writers and filmmakers to quickly, easily — and cheaply — storyboard their scripts.

Roy Price, Amazon’s director of Studios said: “Storyteller provides a digital backlot, acting troupe, prop department, and assistant editor — everything you need to bring your story to life.”

You start by uploading a script to Amazon Studios — or by playing with one that’s already there. Then simply page through the script paragraph by paragraph. Storyteller will try to match up characters, props, and background with the words in each chunk of text, and it does a surprisingly good job.

But if you don’t like what Storyteller gives, you can choose from its library, or even upload your own custom background or characters. Currently, the software has a library of thousands of props, characters, and backgrounds..."
