(From the Article): Are you deeply curious? Do you respond to challenges with openness? Do you ask powerful questions? Or do you want just the facts? When challenged, do you defend yourself and attack the other person? Do you have more answers than questions? I encourage you to cultivate your curiosity as a leader and to promote a spirit of inquiry among those you lead. Make extra effort to explore an issue before deciding. And, when someone disagrees with you, see that as a gift.

Intellectual curiosity, at its deepest, reaches outward and inward. There is an external openness. The leader has a willingness to explore the unknown – seeking new situations, new data and new insights from others. When challenged, the leader wants to explore the differences. And there is also be an internal openness to new ways of thinking. The leader is willing to challenge her own biases. The leader is willing to approach an issue with alternative perspectives. A screencast is a digital recording of a computer screen with audio narration. Screencasts can include telestrator (‘John Madden pen’) annotations. Narrated slideshows include audio recordings synchronized to images without hand-drawn annotations. Screencasts and narrated slideshows can be created with two kinds of tools: 1. Browser-based: Create an account on the website and use a modern web browser like Google Chrome or FireFox to record, save and share it. 2. Doesn't mention the physiological benefits of gaming, e.g. release of endorphins etc. Gaming can have a huge positive effect on people's emotions through release of brain chemicals, of course when undertaken at moderate levels:)

The 11 basic needs are gaining knowledge, gaining and improving skills, feeling competent, persevering through hard times, creating tools, managing danger, regulating emotions, competing for rewards, cooperating for rewards, caring for loved ones, and satisfying the senses with pleasant inputs (sights, smells, sounds, etc.). In the model they will each be referred to by their relevant nouns. Only “satisfying the senses with pleasant inputs” is called “Optimal Choice” because that is the purpose of satisfying our senses. They help us make the best choice by making us feel attracted to “good” things and repelled by “bad” things.

I also have witnessed the decline in creativity in the classroom, year after year it is whittled away.
