The iPad as a Tool for Creation to Strengthen Learning

The iPad as a Tool for Creation to Strengthen Learning | Literacy, Diversity and Mutlitmodality | Scoop.it
We don’t want iPads to just become replacements for notebooks and textbooks, we want them to be objects to think with. We want students using them to mess around with the world around them and their courses of study.

Richard Jones's curator insight, July 24, 2013 4:43 PM

The iPad has often been dismissed as a tool for consumption and not creation.  I think this is a bit of a myth developed around thinking about learning as purely literary and overly concerned with file transfer issues and other "old school" activities.

Having said that it is a pity vendors have gone the proprietory route on storage!

Reminds me of "Using" vs "Integrating" technology.

Sarah McElrath's curator insight, August 13, 2013 4:56 PM

Great reminders. Don't make technology the end -- but rather the means to an end.

Good mnemonic for helping students evaluate websites.

Deborah Welsh's curator insight, August 6, 2013 7:01 PM

Great acronym for website evaluation. It's important students understand that all that glitters is not gold.

Nevermore Sithole's curator insight, August 8, 2013 9:07 AM

A good approach for online information evaluation.
