4 Easy Tricks to Personalize Your Marketing Strategy

4 Easy Tricks to Personalize Your Marketing Strategy | 5 Star Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

As a seasoned marketer, you’re well-aware of the need to ‘reach the right audiences at the right time with the right message.’ You’ve heard this expression over and over — so we won’t belabor the point.

You already know why you need to do it. The problem is that you’re part of a small team and that there are only 24 hours in a day. Presumably (read: hopefully), you spend some of that time sleeping and having fun.

You need an arsenal of high-impact tactics — stuff that’s creative, easy to implement, and pilot-tested by others in your field. That’s where this blog post comes in — to give you some quick, ready-to-execute ideas.

7 Qualities of Highly Effective Content Curators

7 Qualities of Highly Effective Content Curators | 5 Star Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Excerpt from article written by Dennis Shiao and published on Scoop.it Blog:
"Every time I visit the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, I see something I’ve never seen before.
Wouldn’t it be great if our content collections drew as much interest, respect and admiration as the collections at MoMA? In order to achieve this feat, we need to become highly effective content curators.
Let’s consider seven habits:

1. Focus on Goals

What are your goals around content curation? If you can’t answer that question, stop right now. Stop reading this post, too. Go answer the question, then return when you’re done.

2. Have Empathy

You’ll need to have empathy for your target audience. In other words, the better you understand their thoughts, interests and challenges, the more effective you’ll be at content curation.

3. Be Careful, Cautious and Selective
Make sure you read (and digest) every piece of content you curate. Curate high quality content only, leaving the marginal pieces to the proverbial cutting room floor.

4. Editorialize
Don’t just share content, tell us why you like (or dislike) the piece. What can your target audience learn from reading it and what are the key takeaways? In a sense, editorializing creates a nice blend of creation and curation.

5. Provide Attribution
Providing attribution shows respect and helps drive visibility and awareness to content authors. As you curate, look up the author of the article (or blog post) and explicitly acknowledge them.

6. Understand What’s Timely and Trending
Sharing fresh milk is good. Sharing spoiled milk is rotten.
If you find content that is time sensitive, consider whether the “sharing window” has already passed.

7. Have an Eye for a Great Title
Not everyone will be as thorough as you when reviewing content. A lot of people will click on a link solely because of a compelling title. As you sharpen your curating skills, you’ll begin to figure out what separates great titles from good titles. If you come across a great article that has just a good title, consider changing the title text when you curate..."

Anna Knabe's curator insight, March 16, 12:49 AM

This infographic showed stats on gender differences on Instagram based on country, follower ratio, and top brands. Southeast Asia and Russia have a lot of female Instagrammers while the Middle East and India produce mostly men users. Most of the top accounts with the most followers are belonging to men. Lastly, the top brands with the "manliest" audience are Energy drinks and Sports while the "girliest" brands are Cosmetics and Fashion.

I did my Visual Essay on the gender divide of Instagram but I never even thought about the brands on Instagram and the gender of their audiences. Instragram provides a good microcosm of gendered behavior because it not only captures the things that people choose to take pictures of, but what they choose to surround themselves with in their daily lives. This gender disparity in the overall usage of Instagram provides a more broad perspective than my Visual Essay. It shows the greater global trends that I could not have obtained from my own observations.

What Makes Quality Content and Genuine Social Engagement

What Makes Quality Content and Genuine Social Engagement | 5 Star Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

With every algorithm update, Google is making SEO more and more complex. [...] The elements that are regularly highlighted by Google are 'quality content' and 'genuine engagement'.

Guillaume Decugis's curator insight, December 30, 2013 1:49 PM

Andrew Hutchinson reminds us of basic but powerful traits of quality content and genuine social engagement - the ways to reach the objectives of a good content strategy.

It starts with what people want to read (not what you want to tell them), it comes from human beings and it needs to be distributed to communities on social networks by human beings.

But as Hutchinson notes, this approach will take time and investment - something most of us don't have. So once again, it's important to note that we not only need to set and repeat quality standards for our content marketing but also find ways to make that whole strategy more efficient. What we really need is not just to be reminded our content needs to be good and our social engagement authentic: we also need lean content strategies such as content repurposing, community-powered content creation and content curation for instance.

The Social Beehive's curator insight, December 30, 2013 2:44 PM

Quality content certainly is key and the best thing for SEO.  Engage with your readers and get your content working for you!

Daniel Watson's curator insight, December 3, 2013 6:10 PM

In order to keep any business at the forefront of customer awareness, it is becoming more and more important for business owners to be able to authentically communicate in writing, especially  when such communication is aimed at an online audience.

Building online communities on any platform, is only possible when the voice of the writer is deemed to be authentic, and the messages conveyed are consistent in terms of the language used and the emotions conveyed.

This excellent article, suggests that authentic written communication will cement your brand in the customers mind and establish a loyal base of customers for your business, and it offers five tips to follow to ensure that your written business communications come across as authentic and lead to greater connection with your chosen audience.

Pasquale Abiuso's curator insight, December 4, 2013 12:31 PM

2) Tutti possono scrivere. Lascia andare la tua paura. Raccogli i pensieri e inizia a buttar giù nero su bianco. Conosci sicuramente l'argomento.

3) Sii molto chiaro e diretto.

I tuoi clienti diventeranno tuoi fans.
